Peter Lloyd Confirmed For Portland Jerk Festival




Multi-talented actor/singer/songwriter Peter Lloyd now gearing up for the busy summer season has been confirmed for the family oriented Portland Jerk Festival, slated for July 4th, 2010.

The festival which features a wide array of succulent dishes sees thousands of locals and foreigners making the annually trek to Portland to enjoy the world famous Jerk Pork and other signature culinary eats created by our renown chefs.

This year’s event will be staged at Folly Estate, Port Antonio and as in previous year is expected to attract bumper crowd. Other confirmed act include Mr. Hot Head himself, Busy Signal.

Meanwhile Lloyd is currently in studio adding the final touches to his sophomore album titled ‘Peter Lloyd – The Hits’ due for release this summer on the Blacklight Records imprint.

Chuckle Berry collaborates with British Pop artist Emma Stakes




Hard hitting cultural deejay Chuckle Berry who is known for hits such as Good Life, Rasta Nuh Tek Life and Giving It To Her, has teamed up with UK based pop artist Emma Stakes for his latest recording. The two artists recently recorded a reggaeton flavored track titled Wild Cat during a recording session at the Great River Recording Studio in Montego Bay, under the guidance of famed UK based record producer Ron Tom.

Chuckle Berry said he was contacted by Ron Tom who is known in the UK for his work with artists such as Mark Morrison, Sinead O’Conner, Sugar Babes and All Saints to record the track.



“Ron Tom contacted me to record Wild Cat after he heard my latest single So Bad which is produced by Sly and Robbie. He said he liked my sound and he wanted me to record a song with his artist Emma Stakes. So we went into the studio and worked on the project and that’s how we came up with this crazy dance tune called Wild Cat, I think people all over the world are going to love it, once you hear it you just want to move”, said the artist.

A spokesperson from Ron Tom’s record label Metamorphosis Records says that label will be releasing Wild Cat by the end of the month. He also stated that a music video will be shot for the single in the month of July.

Ruffi-Ann excited about Ruffiganza




Dancehall artist Ruffi-Ann is bubbling with excitement as she prepares for the first ever staging of Ruffiganza. This event will take place on Saturday the 26th of June at the Annex Plaza in Guys Hill, St. Cathrine. It will feature sound-systems such as Stone Love and Navigator alongside popular selectors such as Foota Hype, Mad Ras, Lego Bling and Sata Vibes. There will also be appearances by several guest artists.

Ruffi-Ann, intends to make Ruffiganza an annual event therefore she is making every effort to ensure that the event will be enjoyed by patrons in a safe and secure environment.

“I want to make my dance a year to year dance, so I am doing everything in my powers to make sure that the people who come out to support it will get good entertainment for their money. Security will be high on the agenda and I have put together a good line-up of sound-systems and selectors for the dance. It is going to be very nice because we are going to have some special surprise guest artist passing through as well”, said Ruffi-Ann.

Ruffi-Ann is currently receiving good rotation on top radio stations such as IRIE FM, HITZ 92 FM and ZIP FM with her latest single the thought Provoking Forty Eight Years.

D'Angel shoots video for 'Come Over'




Dancehall diva D’Angel now back in the island from her stint in New York, last Thursday shot the video for her current chart bubbler ‘Come Over’ on the Roof Top Rhythm compilation produced by Rose Gold Production.

The edgy video directed by Dexter ‘3D’ Pottinger sees D’Angel adopting the role of a female spy entangled in a web of love and espionage, interspersed with performances shots and some very fashion forward scenes courtesy of the stylist team.

The video shot throughout the thoroughfares of the Corporate Area including Princeville Plaza, Lady Musgrave Avenue, Knutsford Boulevard and the Hilton Hotel saw cameos from video director Julia Braham, Sidonie of Zip 103 FM, upcoming artiste Versatile, Timberlee and popular dance group Shady Squad.

The project is due for release in approximately two weeks and promises a kaleidoscope of colours as D’Angel shows why she is truly the first lady of the dancehall.

Dr. Minister Carlene Davis Completes Ministry In Uganda




Dr. Minister Carlene Davis recently returned to the island after completing her ministry in Uganda. While on the African continent she visited the town of Mukono, just outside of Kampala. There she spent three nights crusading at the Mukono Tax Park, where over 100 persons were saved and are now practicing Christians.

She also assisted in a planting exercise spearheaded by Pastor Stephen Kyamagwa and Cynthia and David Martin of the United States Army.

Dr. Davis is not only a pastoral minister but a humanitarian at heart and as part of her trip, she took the time out to visit the Rook Maker Orphanage, where she spent time speaking, counselling and praying for the children who are victims of various circumstances.

Meanwhile, with two of the most played songs on British radio and her album ‘True Worship’ in stores, Davis will embark on a series of concerts in Curacao and Suriname in the coming weeks.
