Stevie Face Underlining his musical dominance locally!



Reggae artiste Stevie Face has underline his love for music as he continue preparation for a first-time appearance at the annual St Mary Mi Come From event, which is set to take place later this evening.

The event, organized by veteran dancehall/reggae performer Capleton, is set to take place this Friday at Gray’s Inn Sports Complex, in Annotto Bay, St Mary.

On the night, Stevie Face has promised his fans a spectacular treat. Stevie Face also spoke of his high regard for Jamaican music, and it was an ‘honour’ for him to be called upon to perform at one of the country’s leading events.

“Right now yu ketch mi a run go rehearsals fi Capleton show,” he said yesterday morning.

Adding that, “It’s always an honour to perform for my people in Jamaica, even though I have been performing a lot overseas.”

Stevie Face is also due to make a special performance at this year’s JCDC’s Festival song competition finals, at Ranny Williams Entertainment Center.

The reggae singer, born Anwar Hanchard, is one of the most popular reggae artistes in UK today, especially in England and, according to him; it is the direct result of hard work and positive lyrics.

He also said that he’s humbled by the enormous attention he has been getting, given the type of market his music has found. “It’s very rare to see a roots/rock singer doing so well in England, which is more of a lovers/rock culture,” he said.
Also the singer, who rose to stardom with the chartbuster single I’m In Love in 2001, and his management team are currently in talks with a French-based music record label who has bid to work on several music projects with him.

Although he did not divulge much information, the Tell It Like It Is singer confirmed that he’s currently in discussion with the record label.“It’s a company reaching out to Computer Paul. The negotiations are ongoing so we don’t want divulge much into it because we not sure of the direction.”

Currently the singer is working on a 16-track album (not yet named), which will be his second and produce by Computer Paul and Penthouse music magician Donovan Germaine.

He will be shooting a video shortly for the single Thank You Jah for Loving Me, on Germaine’s ‘Big Stage’ rhythm and it will be directed Asha.

His latest album has been dubbed as one of his best studio work and it features the big European hit Nah Leggo Jah. He will also be working with various artistes on a musical project being produced by Germaine in honour of Beres Hammond.

Tarrus Riley Looking to Represent Jamaica With His Upcoming 5 Week Tour



Tarrus Riley, the new prince of Reggae music, is set to embark on a five week tour in support of a forthcoming project. The jaunt is expected to kick off stateside before snaking its way across several European territories. The tour will reconnect Riley with his die-hard fans who have consistently supported his work ever since he exploded onto the musical radar more than four years ago.

The award winning vocalist, who will be making the trek with his Black Soil Band, is looking forward to entertaining his North American and European fans with his arsenal of hits.

'I am really looking forward to representing Jamaica in a positive light on this tour and get more ears listening to the music', an excited Riley stated.

Riley is also anticipating one of the dates on the five week tour. He is set to perform at the Hollywood Bowl in California with the legendary Jimmy Cliff and Sly Dunbar and Robbie Shakespeare. Said Riley 'I am looking forward to that show. Just to be on the same show with Jimmy Cliff and Sly and Robbie is a big deal. The show is a big platform for me and the audience is different from the audiences that I normally perform for'.

Riley recently released the video for his current radio hit Wildfire (Protect the People). The video was directed by Melissa Llewellyn, while the song was produced by Donovan Bennett.

Ricky Blaze for Fully Loaded Summer Party



New York based producer/recording artiste Ricky Blaze will be the international headliner at this year's staging of the annual Fully Loaded Summer Party slated for Friday August 6 at the Old Coal Wharf in Port Royal.

Blaze who is best known for his mega hit Feel Free which last year leaped from the underground circuit of the New York Tri-State area on to the world stage as a certified club anthem, will be performing in Jamaica for the first time ever despite his work as a producer with some of dancehall's biggest stars.

According to a release sent to THE WEEKEND STAR, Blaze draws his inspiration from the likes of billboard producers Timbaland and Pharrell, Blaze has crafted beats for a host of artistes, namely Elephant Man and Ding Dong Badman Forward Badman Pull Up and more recently the monster hit Hold Yuh from reggae singer Gyptian which is now in heavy rotation on HOT97 and Irie Jam Radio.

Outside of producing, Blaze has also been busy in recent times recording a host of new singles including Just You And I and the pop infused Keep It Going which features the ever creative Major Lazer and sister duo Nina Sky.

Third World Band Invades the West Coast This Weekend!



Back from their European tour, the Reggae Ambassadors are off again to their next port of call, the West Coast. On Saturday, July 31, 2010, the band will perform at the Hanu Reggae Festival in Albuquerque, New Mexico where they will share the stage with Maxi Priest and Yellowman.

Then on Sunday, August 1, 2010, they will perform at the 15th Annual Monterey Bay Reggae Festival. Other artists on the line-up include Marcia Griffith, Judy Mowatt, Gyptian, Barrington Levy and Sly and Robbie.
