Gott Yo Pushing Forward With His Career


Upcoming dancehall artiste Gott Yo said he’s pleased with the public attention that his single I Need A Change, has been getting and has also vowed to capitalize on the experience with more quality music.

The 25-year-old singjay, born Gabriell Russell, is enjoying his best spell in the music industry since he entered the field in 2001 when he recorded the single I Wish, for veteran music producer Phillip ‘Fattis’ Burrell. The former Tivoli Gardens High student now believes the time has come for him to shine.

“I’m very confident right now I need A Change has really done a lot for my career, it’s has brought the change that my career needs at this time. Right now I am ready to put in even more hard work because I know my big break is just around the corner,” said an elated Gott Yo.

Despite his bravado, Gott Yo- who backs himself as a ‘universal artiste’, knows all too well, that success is the direct result of hard work, faith and determination. “We all know the value of hard work and what success it brings. From you have good, strong and positive music you will reach far but I know it doesn’t stop just here because the road to success is very long and hard,” he added.


The deejay has also released another song on the Lighting Bolt rhythm, which features fast-rising dancehall artiste Khago and Mr G. He said boldly, that the song will be a definite success particularly because of the messages it contains.

“I have a new song (Hungry) and I know the public will love it because the messages are strong and many people can relate to it,” he said.

Gott Yo’s budding career is set to reach boiling point soon should the said single get the right promotion, knowing, this he looks forward to building on the positive attention he has been getting lately. “Things have gotten better since the release of I Need A Change, I’m getting airplay, television interviews and road shows. Going forward things can only get better because I am doing a lot of positive work and the producers I work with and my management team really believe in me, they are working hard to get me out there,” he said.

The singer is yet to sign to a record label but is currently working with Seanizzle and Frenz 4reel Productions.
