Reggae Artiste Lazah Robbed Of His Car and Phone!


Reggae artiste Lazah Current was robbed of his motor vehicle and cell-phone, while at home with his family in Spring Gardens, in Spanish Town, St Catherine last night.

The singer, who is a former member of Canadian reggae group Messenjah, said he was at home with his common-law wife Felecia and his children at around, when thieves approached the house at around 2 AM and demanded the keys for his 1990 Toyota Corolla motor-car and a his Motorolla L6 cell-phone.

“Mi and mi family a whole a rest last night, shortly after two mi hear a car stop at the gate and the dog started barking. The barking get louder and more consistent so mi realize that something nuh right… about a couple seconds after mi hear a knock pon di window,” recalled the singer, known for the single Hey Girl.

He said the criminals then demanded for him to give up his car key and cell-phone before firing a single shot in the air, with the aim of intimidation.

“Is like dem couldn’t wait nuh longer fi mi car key, suh dem buss a shot ina di air, so mi just throw the key through the window and then they asked for mi phone and tek off wid mi car,” he said, while noting that hours after the incident other residents claimed to have seen his car parked a few meters down the road.

The car is currently in Police custody according to Lazah Current, who said he was grateful that the gunmen spared him and his family’s life but admitted he was puzzled by the motives of the criminals.

“Bwoy I am puzzled and concerned about what happened it is a very scary experience, my kids and my Empress are very traumatized by this bad experience. But I am very grateful to Jah that they didn’t harm us, so I have to give thanks. It was a very traumatic experience for me,” he added.

The Manchester-native said he filed a report to the Old Harbour Police Station and investigations are now ongoing.
