Richie Loop Receives Double EME Nominations


Scikron Media -Kingston, Jamaica: The 2011 Excellence in Music and Entertainment (EME) Awards, has indicated that new artist RichieLoop has received nominations for two major awards categories; namely Best New Artist (Male), and Song of the Year (Dancehall, for 2010.

Richie Loop considers his nomination for BEST NEW ARTIST (MALE), as a blessing, and is honoured to share the category with fellow worthy artistes such as; Vybrant, Popcaan, Versatile, Protoje, Dj Liquid and T’nez.

Richie Loop's blazing single 'My Cupp' which stood atop most charts in Jamaica and the Caribbean, has also been given an accreditation of its success by being nominated in the category for SONG OF THE YEAR (DANCE HALL).

This category has afforded him the opportunity to share nomination with major hits such as Clarks, Stulla, Hold Yuh, Rum & Red Bull, Mad Over, Dumper Truck, This Is How We Do It, Nah Sell Out Mi Fren Dem and JimScreehie respectively.

The Excellence in Music Awards, since its inception in 2008, has been the foremost awards event, for music participants, both locally and internationally.

The EME Awards has been revamped this year new date and venue, but its heightened anticipation by music industry members has remained the same.The date for this year’s EME Awards will be March 12th, and the venue will be the East Lawn of Devon House on Hope Road March 12.

Richard 'Richie B' Burgess, the C.E.O. of the EME Awards, said that the decision was made to change the date of the event from a Thursday to a Saturday, to enable more people to attend the event. (The Gleaner-More Bout the fans, February 13, 2011).

Richie Loop, who recently won the award for the Producer of the Year at the 2nd Annual Clarendon Music Awards, expressed his appreciation and gratefulness for his EME Awards’ nominations by stating that “it shows the industry is expressing their approval and appreciation of his work, as well as the fans voices and choices are being heard, and the fans have given me tremendous support by participating in all the online promotions."

He also added that "I wish to say thank you to everyone namely the organization, the industry peers, my team and especially the fans, for supporting.

Magnum Kings And Queens Of Dancehall In The City


...Final auditions in Kingston, contestants are asked to BRING IT!

Kingston, Jamaica: Contestants will get a final chance this Saturday to audition for a place on Jamaica’s number one dancehall talent show. Ranny Williams Centre is expected to be filled to capacity when Magnum Kings and Queens of Dancehall hosts it’s final audition for its 4th season.

The auditions have canvassed Jamaica and now that they are almost over, Jamaica is anticipating what is expected to be an exciting series of elimination shows.

From each of the auditions which were held in Ocho Rios, Montego Bay, May Pen, Portmore and Kingston 5 princes and 5 princesses will be selected (50 semi finalists). Judges Miss Kitty, Scatta and Professor Nuts will then deliberate and select the Top 20 Live Show finalists (10 Princes and 10 Princesses) who will compete for the title of Magnum King and Queen of Dancehall.

Every Saturday beginning March 19 one prince and one princess will be eliminated from the Magnum stage until only one King and Queen emerge, walking away with $1 million dollars each, a professionally produced single and video.

This Saturday, the Ranny Williams Centre will come alive as contestants get their final chance to show their talent and debut on the Magnum Stage. Auditions begin at 9:00am sharp and contestants are asked to BRING IT!

Evin Lake Getting Attention With ‘Come Go With Me’‏


Kevin Clarke ventured into the world of music from a very early age. The Port Antonio native grew up with an affinity for R&B and lovers rock, being drawn primarily to the sounds of Teddy Pendergrass, Stevie Wonder, Donny Hathaway, Dennis Brown and Sanchez.

By dropping a few letters from his government name, Clarke became known as Evin Lake, launching his singing career in the early 1990's. 'Girl I'll Be There,' an R. Kelly cover, was one of his earliest singles.

He also worked with top flight reggae producer, Barry O'Hare, releasing originals such as 'He's Alive' and 'I Don't Want To Lose Your Love,' both of which appeared on O'Hare's X Rated label. Lake found steady work in the tourism industry, plying his craft in Ocho Rios, Montego Bay and Negril for more than ten years.

Evin Lake's latest song is a new cover of the Pendergrass hit song, 'Come Go With Me.' It is produced by Othneil 'Taddy P' Campbell, who is a well-known bassist who has toured with Maxi Priest and Diana King. The song is released on his Bass In Your Face label.

Since its release to radio a few weeks ago 'Come Go With Me.' it has been receiving steady airplay from several popular radio deejays including IRIE FM’s DJ Amber and Ron Muschette.

Reggae and Dancehall artiste, Chino McGregor recently did an interview with the Gambian Daily Observer. Here are excerpts:

What’s On: Welcome to this interview, but first can you give us a brief background of your music career? ...(Laugh) I started professionally in 1999 with Kiprich on a track called Leggo Di Bwoy and since then I’ve been putting in a lot of work with tracks like Ruff It Up, Protected, Before Dem Gone, From Mawning/Never Change and a lot of other songs.

What’s On: Where did you get your inspiration from?…..My inspiration came from being surrounded by the music. I grew up around music, because of my father, Freddie McGregor. So I guess its just for early exposure that my love for music evolved and continued to grow.
