Flava Squad Leading the Way in Entertainment

Flava Squad Entertainment Inc boss and author Ewan McRae, believes his company has reached the level of elites despite mounting challenges throughout a decade of exceptional services.

McRae, the author of poetry books The Occupied Mind and The guilty Truth Revealed, said that his company, registered in 1999, has moved from newcomers to current trendsetters as it relates to producing music and planning events both locally and abroad.

“As for production we have set a standard above average in the sense that we concentrate on positive and uplifting music, creating music of past, present and future. As for our promotions we deliver a unique show called HYPE which is held annually at Independence Park, Black River, which has set a standard where promotions is concern,” he said.

McRae disclosed that achieving this goal proved difficult in the initial stages, as the support from the industry wasn’t of any likening. But, nonetheless, they helped propelled him to pursue greater heights.

“It’s like majority of persons overlook real and authentic music, and we had to fight real hard or go the extra mile to be heard,” said McRae in relation to bias in the music industry.

Deriving from a sound system ‘Black Roze’ to a now successful entity, Flava Squad have been associating itself with some of the biggest projects in the local music industry. They have also produced an array of top reggae artistes such as Luciano, Sizzla Kalonji, Anthony B, Turbulence and several others.

They have recently released a number of albums on ITunes, including Khago’s ‘Daddy from You Gone’ and Nitty Kutchie’s ‘Gangsta’. And, come this April, they’ll be releasing two reggae one drop rhythms titled Mackavel and Life, featuring a number of popular and upcoming reggae and dancehall artiste.

As a promotional body, they have combined forces with Sizzla Kalonji for his annual Sizzla Annual Concert, Its A Party and their very own HYPE. They have also successful organized events in the Turks Island, Canada and England.

McRae stated that he and his employees are dedicated to growth and development of the Jamaican music industry and will continue to give the public nothing but the best through their numerous parties and uplifting music.

Reggae Artiste Dubkore Doing Well With Debut Album

Reggae artiste Dubkore said he’s pleased with the support received thus far, since the release of his debut album Arrogant Man in June 2010.

The Spanish Town based singer/musician revealed that his 13-tracks album, produced by his own label Pikki Head records, is progressing steadily after debuting on Amazon Music, ITunes, and EMusic among others.

“The album is now finished and is doing well on several music outlets such as Amazon Music, ITunes and Emusic. We are trying step by step to reach the global market,” said the roots-reggae singer, born Colin Lewlyn.

The album, which features singles like Little Love Story, Same Routine and Dream Girl, is expected to go far according to Dubkore, who also asserted that fans can expect more quality work from him in the near future.

“The album deals with real life issues and anyone can relate to it, because that’s what I sing about. I love music, and therefore I always try to bring out better music for the people to listen to, and that will never change,” he said.

The current crop of artistes signed to Pikki Head records is making steady strides Dubkore admits, but female sensation Empress Q is one that he’s paying closer attention to. The songbird, he said, is wooing fans all over whenever she touches the microphone.

“She’s here working on her music … but our energy is focused on making the album a success. I have been watching her closely,” he added.Dubkore also disclosed that he and members of his Pick It Up band are currently engaged in extensive rehearsals in preparation for several upcoming shows.

“Well, right now it’s just rehearsals and more rehearsals. The whole band is gearing up for upcoming events,” he said.Dubkore is currently in studio working on some new material that will be released later this year. He’s very optimistic about greater successes in the not too distant future, and as he continues to record good music, he intends to promote himself better locally and internationally.
