Rebel T For River Sundays Anniversary

Veteran sound system Rebel T will be at River Sundays for its first anniversary this Sunday May 1 at Grossman River in Braes River St Elizabeth.

Initially dubbed Heineken River Sundays the free show has new sponsors in the form of Rum Bar Rum, BOJ TV, Super K Studios and River Rock Café coupled with a new vibe and additional attractions for patrons

Founded in the early 90s, Rebel T may be more known for winning the Guinness Sound of Greatness competition in 2008 but has toured the world spreading dancehall music in North America, The Caribbean and Europe.

Mad Ras who will man the ones and threes this Sunday, started in the sound business in the City Rock camp in the early 90's as a box boy and worked his way up the ranks settling in as an MC until he joined the Rebel T team in 03. His explosive eccentricity has pleased fans throughout the world. As MC and Hype man, his Mad Ras’ vibe has become a visible trademark for fans from LA to the Bahamas.

A free show put on by Danger Zone Music Group and Nuwave Entertainment, the first instalment of River Sundays was held on Easter Sunday 2011 and almost 3000 patrons came out to witness a special performance by Jah Cure. Over the past year, the show has also seen the likes of Miss Kitty, Ce’Cile, DJ Sunshine, Kahgo, Fanton Mojah, Angele Smith and many more artistes performing for the St Elizabeth patrons.

Not only did the show host a slew of performing artistes over the past year but there were also a number of top flight disk jocks who spun their mixes on the River Sundays stage. The likes of Ricky Trooper, Jigsy, Colin Hines, Razz N Biggy, ZJ Ice and Coppershot were just some of the sound systems and selectors who made the trip to St Elizabeth.

Ronny White of Nuwave Entertainment believes the event is a hit: “This event is one that people in St Elizabeth look forward to every month, over the past year we have grown from strength to strength and not only provide entertainment but also a source of income for many persons who come to the event and sell their products. The people have supported us over the past year and we will do our best to ensure that we get their support for another year”

On May 1, 2011 River Sundays celebrates its one year anniversary with a hyper party at Grossman River in Braes River St Elizabeth. Music will be provided by Rebel T with Mad Ras, Virus Sound and Danger Zone. There will also be prizes and surprises in celebration of the one year anniversary with football and domino competitions and well as Rum Bar Rum deals all night. Festivities start at 2 pm so patrons are advised to come out early to win numerous prizes.

I-Octane Confirmed For Reggae Sumfest‏

International recording star I Octane continues to blaze a brilliant trail as the hottest artiste to emerge on the dancehall scene in the last 18 months.

He has now been confirmed to perform on Dancehall Night at this year's Reggae Sumfest concert. On Wednesday night, he delivered an incredible performance after the climax of the boxing match to decide the winner of the first Wray and Nephew-sponsored Contender reality TV series.

Last week, I Octane journeyed to Canada to perform at the Rozz Restaurant Complex in Brampton, Ontario. He did extensive radio and TV promotions for two days before the event and the promotion paid immediate dividends as the show was sold out. Long queues stretched from the venue and around the block as Canadians clamoured to see the Nuh Ramp Wid Mi singer.

I Octane hit the stage a few minutes after 2 a.m with Nuh Love Inna Dem , followed by My life. He got huge forwards for hits Puff It, and Lose a Friend, and his new songs, Mi Nuh Dream Bout Bwoy and Badmind Fi Di Year were well received by the jam-packed club.

He returned to Jamaica on Easter Sunday and headed straight to Montego Bay where he performed at the 'Live on the Water Front' concert at Pier one in Montego bay. The artiste entered the stage at about 3 a.m. after the performances of Bounty Killer and Aidonia, and energised the venue with a marquis performance.

Backed by the Ruff Kutt band, Octane was in a fiery mood, spitting out a steady stream of hits to a delirious audience. On Easter Monday, he performed at Portmore Seafood Festival where he grace the stage at 11 p.m, closing the show with his many hits. Then he dashed off to perform at the Jamaica International Kite Festival where he performed after Kip Rich, rocking the audience with his hits, especially Nuh Love No Inna Dem.

In the meantime, Octane's 'Nuh Ramp Wid We' has hit the # 1 spot on the Captain Bakery Fi Wi Choice top 20 music chart, and it is roaring up the Hype Tv Top 20 music chart, jumping to #12 this week . The video for the song is also on all the major music charts.

Dominican Opera Singer Featured in Jamaica Observer

Marie-Claire was featured in the Sunday Observer on April 17th 2011. The piece made mention of her collaboration with the legendary Bob Andy who wrote her song entitled "Constellation".

She is currently recording her debut album dreamland at Danny Champagne's Studio in Kingston, with in-house producer Dre. Here is a clip from the article below, along with an online link. Please contact AGSelectPR to set up interviews with marie-claire who will soon be releasing her first single from the album!

From the Caribbean's nature isle — Dominica — comes soprano marie-claire. The Italian-trained classical singer is in Jamaica working on what, from all appearances, is destined to be a groundbreaking musical project.

"I am now fusing opera with reggae, dancehall and hip hop to create this new sound," marie-claire told the Sunday Observer. The project forms part of the work she is putting into her, her maiden album aptly titled Dreamland.

So much of the singer's passions are tied up in this project and it seems her dreams are about to come true. To begin with, just this past week, she has gotten a grant (or soft loan) from the government of Dominica to fund this dream project of hers. Secondly, the Dominican private sector and some busines interests in the United States, have thrown their weight behind the production of the album.

Then from a musical perspective, it enjoys the contribution of one of Jamaica's finest singers/songwriters, Bob Andy. And that's not all, also lending his musical talent and expertise to the project is veteran Jamaican musicians/producers, Earl 'Chinna' Smith and Glen Browne, to mention a few.
