Dancehall Artiste Kashu takes Career to New Heights‏

Dancehall artiste Kashu is looking to take his career to new heights under the guidance of his manager and producer Kevin McLean of Human Rights Productions. The deejay formerly known as Kashu Man has been knocking on the doors of the Jamaican music industry for some time now.

He got his first taste of success in music, when he won the first ever Reggae Trail Talent Search contest that was staged by TV personality Suzie Q in 2001.

Kashu recounted that winning the contest fueled his desire to achieve even more success and break out big in the music biz. So he travelled from Clarendon to Kingston to record for several producers including Collin ‘Bulby’ Yorke and Colly Bud. This resulted in the release of a number of singles including Too Much Marrow, Unfair System and Nutten Nah Gwaan which got a lot of airplay.

“After I won the Reggae trail contest in 2001, it gave me a big boost to follow the music more and I immediately began to go to Kingston frequently to work with a lot of producers.”

Kashu’s musical pursuits have also taken him abroad, to date he has performed on numerous occasions in Europe, Grand Cayman, St Marten and North America.

However Kashu’s greatest wish is to establish his name at home and he and his management team are currently working hard to achieve this goal.

“I appreciate the love the people overseas have for my music and I appreciate the opportunities that have I have gotten to perform abroad and will continue to entertain my overseas fans. But my main aim and focus right now is to become a household name in Jamaica.

Kashu is currently promoting several new singles including Mi Amor and Orders which is currently number 17 on the Jamaica Music Countdown Top 25 reggae Charts. The accompanying music video for Mi Amor is also enjoying strong rotation on several local television stations.

Kashu whose real name is Darren Williams said that he is very confident now more than ever about his future success. He also said that his music is currently making a strong impact on the Jamaican music scene and it will only be matter of time before he gets the big break at home that he has been yearning for.

“I really feel that my career is finally taking off at home, all the hard work that my management team and I are doing is bearing fruit and I can see that it will only be a matter of time before I get the big break,” said Kashu.
