Trinidad Guardian: Spice Teams Up With Missy Elliot For Some Fun‏

Jamaican dancehall artiste Spice teams up with Missy Elliot on a track called Fun. Jamaican female sensation, Spice, has teamed up with international hip-hop trendsetter Missy Elliot on a track called Fun. Spice explained that the song came to be after Stacy Chung, the CEO of her new management team, Movers and Shakers, sent the track to a member of Elliot’s team who ensured that she heard it.

She said Missy immediately took a liking to the Equinoxx produced track, on the Wash Belly riddim, and decided to jump on it, resulting in a song that’s getting the attention of DJs across the Caribbean and overseas. Spice, whose real name is Grace Hamilton, has been hard at work.

From committing to studio sessions, attending video shoots and even flying to the US as a special guest at Missy’s birthday party, she’s been doing her thing and is guaranteeing fans that she’s not about to stop. “I performed on stage with Trina at Missy’s birthday party. I was invited as a special guest. It was a great honour for me and of course there are other plans for us to meet up to promote the track,” she confirmed.

Last Friday, Spice was scheduled to leave for the US to honour touring commitments with VP Records. She’s set to perform in Connecticut, where she guarantees that fans will hear the new track, Fun, live for the first time. Among the other projects being attended to by the singer and entrepreneur is an African-inspired single she will be releasing very soon called Hot Patty.

“The video should be out sometime soon and I have two other tracks to come after that and another video to be shot. I’m just working hard now, getting those singles out,” she said excitedly. Spice, who gave dancehall music lovers Romping Shop, followed by Jim Screechie in recent years, said she believed her style was truly unique, adding that wherever she was seen, even if people didn’t know who she was, they often wanted to know. “I am very different.

I am very straightforward and I stand out,” she explained. The owner of a popular clothing boutique in Jamaica, Spice said Spicy Couture in the parish of St Andrew, continued to satisfy clients, offering select pieces that can be found nowhere else on the island. “The store’s doing well. The customers are happy that the store is open and they can always come to find what they really want,” she said.

With hopes of collaborating someday with T&T-born international recording artiste, Nicki Minaj, Spice continues to deliver, assuring fans that she’s not about to stop. On August 13, she’ll host her birthday party in Jamaica.

She explained that while her birthday was really on August 6, Independence Day celebrations on the island often took precedence and she’ll celebrate one week later. She called on fans to follower her on Twitter @SpiceOfficial, to know of all that’s happening in her world of music and entertainment.
