Da’ville Scores with When I’m With You

With his husky voice delivering as only he can, singer Daville has scored yet another number one, this time it’s with his latest single When I’m With You. Listening to him you can almost feel yourself being enveloped in his ultra smooth voice as the soothing strains of the sweet reggae music adds that perfect touch.

Daville definitely hit all the right notes in When I’m With You and it’s not surprising that the song has made its way to the number one spot on Jamaica Music Chart and is now in the number 9 position on Hype TV Top 20 chart.

But then number ones are nothing new to the singer as he has found himself in that position many times. Among his top scoring numbers were In Heaven, Can’t Get Over You and On My Mind.

That Daville has a passion for singing is no secret as he often jokes that he was born singing.

As a youth, singing was his only escape from the trauma and painful life he was going through growing up. “My life was hard and to escape it all, I sang in church and at all the local school functions,” he reminisced.

Fast track to 2011 and Daville is still very much doing what he does best – delivering heartwarming songs from a voice that just pulls you in. Now under the direction of his own Indie Label, Fashozy Records Inc., Da'Ville is intent on riding the waves of success where his career is concerned.

The singer is already off to a flying start with his music being embraced in Japan, USA and the Caribbean. “The best is yet to come,” promise Daville as he continues to record winsome numbers.

I-Octane Delivers Smashing Performances in St Kitts & Costa Rica

Two separate venues, huge crowds, but there was, no doubting the high-energy performance that singjay I-Octane dished out in St Kitts and Costa Rica.

His first of two performances came in Costa Rica where he performed on More Life Fest 2K11 on September 30 alongside fellow Jamaican Tanya Stephens. He exploded on stage to loud cheers and great enthusiasm from his fans there as he dished out one conscious number after another.

A few days later, October 2nd, to be exact he was in St Kitts at Beamount Park Race Track performing on So Long To Summer Bash. Following the excitement of the day’s horse racing, I-Octane performing on tracks delivered a sterling hour-long set to over 4,000 patrons. So impressive was he that the promoters didn’t waste any time in confirming him one year early for the annual event.

The organizers weren’t the only ones who were in for a surprise on the event as the artiste himself was a bit taken off guard. “I couldn’t believe that my fans were singing along to songs which had just been released only a few weeks ago,” I-Octane said. Among the songs he unleashed on his St Kitts fans were Burn Your Bridges, Licki Licki, Eye A Cry and of course favourites such as Puff It, My Life and Study Yuh Friend Dem.

Now back on the rock, the Digicel brand ambassador shot a medley video for his latest singles for producer Good Good Promotions Enemy Yard and Nah Eat featuring Versatile. Directed by Mykal Cushnie, it was shot on location in Morant Bay, St Thomas with production duties assigned to Melissa Llewellyn.

“We had a great time shooting the video. Honestly, I think my fans will love this one,” said Octane about the video which he says should be ready to premiere real soon.

Timeka Marshall Drops New Single

Timeka Marshall, the sultry Guyanese songstress, is riding the airwaves again with her newest release, a cover of the number one billboard hit, Waiting for You originally done by Richard Marx in 1989. The remake was produced jointly by Timeka and co-manager Kerwin Bollers and subsequently released on the Juke Boxx label two weeks ago.

Marshall also recently concluded the video for her newest collaboration, Beenie Man & Bravo which features Moses “Beenie Man” Davis and Dwayne Bravo The single was released jointly in September by 357 Records and Forty-Seven Records and the video directed by Janelle Dyer.

The singer sees the Beenie Man & Bravo project as a combination of Caribbean heavyweights. “It is truly a Caribbean integration. I got a call from Beenie Man’s management who said he wanted a singer to do the hook,” Marshall said. “I’m just grateful for the opportunity. I mean, he’s Beenie Man, King of the Dancehall!”

Marshall has logged hours of studio time in Jamaica, working with hot producers, one of which is Shane Brown of Juke Boxx Records. Brown produced the song, Hush, as well as Feel Fah, Marshall’s combination with Busy Signal. She has also recorded for Stephen ‘The Genius’ McGregor who produced the song, All Night.

While she says her musical influences are eclectic, Marshall believes it is important for her regional identity to be reflected in her sound. “I listened to everything when I was growing up in Guyana, R&B, reggae. But I always wanted to have some Caribbean essence in my music,” she stressed. Timeka Marshall was born in Linden, a town on the outskirts of Georgetown, the Guyanese capitol where she was raised.

That all changed after she won the GT&T contest, Guyana’s version of Jamaica’s Rising Stars. “Once that was over, I decided that I would pursue music. It seemed only natural.” We Should Separate, an R&B ballad co-produced by Marshall and her Co-Manager Kerwin Bollers.

Five years ago when Timeka Marshall entered the GT&T Single competition in her native Guyana, she had no career path. After winning the island wide contest, her mind was all made up. The GT&T victory convinced Marshall she had the goods to make it as a singer, but she wanted to make it in a commercially-viable environment. That’s how she ended up in Jamaica.

Marshall who counts Etana, Queen Ifrica, Alaine and Busy Signal among her current favourites says she feels at home working in Jamaica which remains the biggest music market in the Caribbean. She is co-managed by Pyramid Artists in Barbados whose roster includes Lil Rick, Skinny Fabulous and Biggy Irie among others.

Cherine Teams Up With Yoplait Yogurt for Breast Cancer Campaign‏

Cherine "the Queen of Dancehall Soul" in her ongoing support for the fight against cancer recently teamed up with Yoplait and The Jamaica Cancer Society for their 2011 Breast Cancer Awareness Month Campaign "Save Lids to Save Lives". This time the songbird will play an even greater role, leading the charge as spokesperson for the campaign.

Pledging her support to the cause, Cherine encourages the entire nation to support the initiative by Yoplait which will see The Jamaica Cancer Society benefiting $8 from every pink lid 6 oz. cup of Yoplait yogurt sold during the period October 1st thru November 13th, 2011.

The Jamaica Cancer Society and Yoplait under the theme "Taking care of the women in our lives" invite all Jamaicans to take responsibility and play their part in encouraging and supporting the women in their life to conduct ongoing self examinations, routine screening and understand the importance of early detection. This year's campaign also engages the men in our society to actively join the fight and encourage the women in their lives to do same.

Wisynco & Yoplait, unveiled the campaign at the recently held launch in Kingston and promised their continued support. Their donation of $8 from every pink lid 6oz. cup of Yoplait yogurt sold was pledged to The Jamaica Cancer Society and they have guaranteed a minimum donation of $500,000. In 2010, Wisynco through the "Save Lids to Save Lives" campaign donated over $800,000 to The Jamaica Cancer Society.

"I just want to ask every Jamaican to support the Yoplait "Save Lids to Save Lives" campaign especially my colleagues and other young people. Almost everyone I know knows someone either directly or indirectly who has been affected by cancer. I believe as young Jamaicans we have power beyond belief and if we put our time, effort and hearts to help raise awareness, encourage and take care of the women in our lives, be it our aunts, sisters, mothers, grandmothers as well as ourselves, we will continue to make positive advancements in the overall fight against cancer.

Let's use our facebook and twitter pages to help get the word out this month and support the effort through our purchase of Yoplait Yogurt. A we say 'rebel' so let's do the 'honorable' thing and help make sure we raise awareness and reduce the impact of breast cancer on our Jamaican women." said Cherine.

Being an active supporter and member of The Jamaica Cancer Society, Cherine also supports the fight against Breast Cancer by endorsing other initiatives such as the recently held Mahima Benefit Concert, a charity event held on the lawns of The Jamaica Pegasus with proceeds aiding the Hope Institute (a cancer-care center in Kingston). Cherine delivered a heartwarming performance and inspired the sold-out crowd with powerful songs such as "Shine on Jamaica" and new single "Eagles & Doves" from her free mixtape JA 9.25.

The Yoplait campaign kicked off on October 1, 2011 and continues with their "Carry the Message Tour" which will feature four (4) major town stops. A team of cyclists will be helping to carry the message around the island.

Be sure to look out for these cyclists, the Yoplait team and special guest celebrities passing through your area and support the cause by purchasing your Yoplait yogurt which is a healthy treat and generates financial support for this important cause.

Sharon Niens, Yoplait Business Development Manager adds "We are hoping to make a bigger donation to The Jamaica Cancer Society than we did last year and we are honored and appreciative to have the support of Cherine and other celebrities in this year's campaign. We are committed to the fight against breast cancer and we encourage everyone to purchase a delicious cup of Yoplait yogurt and help us make our biggest donation ever to the life saving work of The Jamaica Cancer Society.
