Konshens’ Jamaican Dance Gets Global Recognition

Jamaican Dance, a track recorded by Jamaican dancehall star Konshens, was recently recognized by dance music lovers across the world during the celebration of International Dance Day (April 29).

The song was also utilized in a YouTube video which was created in commemoration of the milestone. Jamaican Dance gained traction globally late last year when it was featured in the video game hit Just Dance 3. Konshens is one of two Caribbean artistes whose songs are featured in the Just Dance 3 track listing. The other is Rihanna.

Just Dance 3 is a music video game released on the Wii, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3 with Kinect and Move support respectively for the latter two. It is part of the Just Dance video game series published by Ubisoft originally on the Wii. It was released on October 7, 2011 in North America and October 11, 2011 in Australia and Europe.

Other acts whose songs are featured in Just Dance 3 include Katy Perry, Gwen Stefani, Janelle Monae, the Black Eyed Peas, Jessie J, LMFAO, the Pointer Sister, Donna Summer, Girls Aloud, Beyonce, Earth Wind and Fire, Cee Lo Green, Lenny Kravitz, Britney Spears, Sugar Hill Gang and rapper B.o.B.

International Dance Day was introduced in 1982 by the International Dance Committee of the International Theatre Institute (ITI), a UNESCO partner NGO, and is celebrated on April 29 every year.

The video for Jamaican Dance was shot in Jamaica in February. It is scheduled for release this summer. Additionally, Konshens has released the video for another single, Su Mi Tan.
