I Octane Leads Clarendon Music Awards Nominations‏


The 2nd annual Clarendon Music Awards slated to be held at the May Pen Court House Car Park on the 8th of April will awards being handed out in over 25 categories including Clarendon Artist of the Year, Clarendon Producer of the Year, Clarendon Best new Artist of the Year, Clarendon Gosple Artist of the Year, Clarendon Producer of the Year, Clarendon Promoter of the Year and Clarendon Most Consistent Sound-system of the Year.

Popular singjay I Octane has earned a total of 6 nominations. He is nominated in the following categories: Clarendon Artist of the Year, Clarendon Best Reggae Artist, Clarendon Best Performer of the Year, Clarendon Recording Artist of the Year and Clarendon Most Influential Artist.

Deejay Kashu formerly known as Kashu Man is another of the top nominees with a total of three nominations, he is nominated in the following categories: Clarendon Best Performer of the Year, Clarendon Best Reggae Artist and Clarendon Recording Artist of the Year.

Veteran reggae star Cocoa Tea is also in the runnings with two nominations these are: Clarendon Best Reggae Artist and Clarendon Most Influential Artist.
Hardcore dancehall artist Merciless also has two nominations: Clarendon Artist of the Year and Clarendon Recording Artist of the Year.

David Anderson of Temperature Entertainment who is the promoter of the Clarendon Music Awards says that he created the event because of the love and respect he has for his parish and the wonderfully talented artists and musicians that have emerged from the parish over the years. “When I looked at the proud history my parish as one of the breeding grounds for good Jamaican talent I decided to create an event that would celebrate and honor the our artists and other player on the Clarendon entertainment scene.

This parish is truly blessed with talent it has given the world the likes of Reggae legend Toots Hibbert, Freddie McGregor, Cocoa Tea, the Blues Busters, Denroy Morgan, Barrington Levy and many others, it’s really an amazing place and I really love my parish, I feel truly blessed to be a Clarendonian,” said the promoter.
The event will feature performances from a host of artists including I Octane, Derrick Morgan, The Clarendonians, The Maytones, Silver Cat, Merciless, Kashu, Pinchers, Tanto Metro & Devonte and Richie Loops. The Clarendon Music Awards is being held under the auspices of the Custos of Clarendon William Shagoury.

The event is endorsed by the Clarendon Parish Development Committee.
Listed among its sponsors POWER 106 FM, Nitro Liquid Energy, Temperature’s Entertainment Ltd., Scheme Teens Satidayz, Spanga Bunga, Rum Fire, May Pen Ice, Shagoury Aggregates and High School Link Up. The Clarendon Music Awards will start at 5 PM with a Red Carpet, the awards show begins at 7:30 PM and the stage show will begin at 10: 30 PM.

Face Dada Shoots Ghetto Video‏


Looking to capitalize on the current hype surrounding his song titled Ghetto, Portmore based rapper Face Dada recently shot a video for the thought provoking single which was produced by Dre Day. The single which appears on the BDCG Entertainment imprint has been blowing up FM radio since its release.

“I just did the video for Ghetto, my team and I are really excited about it, it’s going to be a great video, everyone involved with the project really put a lot of work into it. We hope that the video will compliment what’s already happening with the song and just help to make the whole thing bigger.”

The video was shot at various locations across the corporate area including Portmore, Waterhouse and Harborview. It was direct and produced by 13th Tribe Productions and is currently being edited to be released before the end of March.
“We did the video in places like my community, Garvey Meade and West Meade over in Portmore and we also went over to Harborview and Waterhouse for some scenes. We wanted to really highlight certain areas, so that people can see what life is like for the average Jamaican who has to struggle to survive in the ghetto, said Face Dada.

Rippa Jackson Riding A Wave of Success With "Help Someone"‏


Hot Head Kulcha recording artist Rippa Jackson is currently riding a wave of success, since the release of his singled titled Help Some One, the humble Rastafarian singer who hails from Portmore has seen his stocks rise significantly. Helpe Someone with its socially conscious lyrics backed by a melodious one drop accompaniment has earned Rippa Jackson a place on several major radio station playlist around the globe, while its supporting video that was directed by Oral ‘Splicerr Ras’ Williams is also receiving strong support.

The talented Rastafarian singer recently returned home from New York for his first major performance on local soil since the release of Help Someone and from all indications it was a successful debut. Coming on stage during the star time segment Rippa Jackson proved that he could hold his own among the big guns that performed on the annual Spring Break stage show that took place at the Long Bay Beach Park in Negril last Saturday.

He delivered a short and spicy performance which consisted of his hit single, Help Someone and his latest release, Jah Save Me, both tracks earned him huge forwards from the crowd before making way for IOctane.
Rippa Jackon is currently climbing the charts with Help Someone, the track is currently number 14 on the Jamaica Music Countdown Top 25 Reggae Singles Chart after seven weeks.

Hefla Nyah On Top With "Take You There"‏


Fast rising reggae artist Hefla Nyah has scored his first number one hit with his debut single, Take You There (Jamaica). The song was released late last year on the 619 Entertainment Group imprint and tops this week’s Jamaica Top 25 Reggae Singles Charts.

“I feeling straight joy and happiness at this time as my career continues to grow, more than anything else I feel very blessed. I am really grateful to my fans, my management team and all the people who have helped to push my song out there,” said the artist.

Hefla Nyah has made significant strides since the release of Take You There. The St Mary native was named Newcomer Of The Year for 2011 by Swiss website rastamusic.com, he is also slated to appear on The Worlds End Music Festival in Austria in August of this year.

He is currently enjoying a major buzz with his second single titled Lose Control, feat Natural Black. The busy young Rastafarian is also getting ready to drop an up-tempo tune titled Facebook, there also plans afoot to shoot a supporting video for this track, the video will be directed and produced by Regulus Films out of Florida. The company has done work with several top Hip Hop stars such as Little Wayne, Rick Ross, Trick Daddy, and Plies.
