Mackamilli Taking Dancehall Back to the Streets!!

Mackamilli, a former member of the popular dancehall group from the 90's, Innocent Kru, has returned on the scene with a grungy underground sound that he claims is lacking in dancehall today.

After the Innocent Kru dissolved, Mackamilli temporarily stepped away from music and turned his attention to video and movie production, something he was always passionate about.

Though he continued to record tracks he did not focus much on his career as an artist as he was busy growing his company, Mackmilli Production, which is an organization that does both music and video creation.

Having now shot, edited and directed several music videos and short films, Mackamilli feels ready to return to the music but wants to do so with a unique underground sound; Hence, 10,000 volt.

Ten thousand volt rhythm is arguably one of the most aggressive dancehall rhythms out for 2012. It features Mackamilli, Fantan Mojah, Karamanti, Determine and a slew of other artists hailing predominantly from Seaview Gardens (which is where Mackmilli calls home). Macka was very selective when choosing the artists for the project as he believes that a lot of those currently at the forefront of the industry is not creating authentic dancehall anymore but is instead doing what he calls a cross over so that they can break into the international market.

JonFX Teams Up With Gyptian

Universal/Interscope Canada Producer JonFx, popularly known for Cloud Nine Riddim, and producing popular singles featured on Gyptian, Mavado, and I-Wayne’s albums, released a small compilation titled “Dubstep Fusion Riddim”. The new riddim fuses the popular UK electronic music, Dubstep, with the popular elements of a dancehall composition. Creating yet again another International compilation.

With that being said, International Jamaican artiste Gyptian was happy to team up with the producer again on this new project after great successes with singles such as “I can feel your pain”, and “Nah Let Go”, but what really accentuates the project is that it features three uprising Canadian Dancehall artistes and an upcoming act hailing from Jamaica named Squaddy.

The Canadian dancehall scene has been making an impact lately worldwide. JonFx is recognizing the talents coming out of the Maple Leaf country right now. He featured young artiste Five Star, who has been making a name for himself in Canada.

Alty B, who has been getting a great amount of recognition for his latest single, “No More” on Canadian production team Smokeshop’s “Sour Sap” riddim, and Faze. Another upcoming artist out of Toronto, who laid down the track “Party Animal” on the riddim, which JonFX sees as having great potential in the international market.

JonFx continues to work hard, helping establish Dancehall and Reggae in the International markets.
