Danger Zone Rebirth Releases Iba Mahr She Cries Video


Danger Zone Rebirth has released the thought provoking video and single She Cries, performed by Iba Mahr. The video was directed by Simon ‘Sno’ Thompson. Early response to the video has been quite overwhelming with positive comments coming from fans and music lovers alike. The visual depicts a female who is hurting from the many experiences that she has been through.

The camera angles, editing, and concept are commendable and assist in effectively bringing the song’s lyrics to life on screen. In a release to the media, Iba Mahr explained the story behind the song She Cries. ‘We’re trying to send a message to women who continue to use their bodies as a marketplace to gain money.

Basically women who might fall in that position to be mindful of the pitfalls because certain things can happen. It is really a song to enlighten people to refrain from what they are doing. This song reveals a different Iba Mahr’, he explained.  

She Cries is featured on the Mind Therapy rhythm project. Also featured on the rhythm are Jah Jah Watch Over Me by Vybz Kartel; Can’t Get to Use You by Jigsy King; Press On by Natty King; Show them Love by Ras Charmer; Have to Sew by Capleton; No Detour by Chuck Fenda; Better Mus Come by Little Hero/Peas Head; I Will Always Be by Turbulence; Gone Away by Coco Tea; Fading Away by Cressy; and What You Don’t Know by Danger Zone Rebirth recording artiste Shanhill. The Mind Therapy is the latest from the Danger Zone Rebirth stables. Another project from the label is the single Somewhere in Africa performed by Dub tonic Kru featuring Iba Mahr.

Spice To Release Videos For "Dun Wife" and "Twerk"


Kingston Jamaica - Dancehall artiste, Spice, has released two new singles, "Twerk" and "Dun Wife" for which videos were shot and will be released in a few days. "Dun Wife" which is reminiscent of early 90s dancehall has already become a fan-favourite and Spice says the video will feature a number of surprises for fans. "I definitely can't let everything out the box yet but people will be in for a treat with this video."

In addition, "Twerk", which features a faster tempo has female fans everywhere energetically 'twerking' to the beat. The video for "Twerk" which was recorded last week, will be both colorful and entertaining, says Spice. "The video will showcase the twerking technique for those fans who are not sure how to do it as yet.

Apart from that it's going to be a very sexy but fun, dancing video. So fans can look out for that in a few days," she says. Immediately after releasing both videos, Spice will leave the island for shows in England.

Meta And The Cornerstones Collaborates Damian "Jr. Gong" Marley


On February 26, 2013, Meta and the Cornerstones released the first single, My Beloved Africa, from their forthcoming album, Ancient Power, featuring Damian "Jr. Gong" Marley. Meta Dia, born in Senegal, pays tribute to his homeland with My Beloved Africa by reflecting on the ancestry, rich history and resilience of a people who have been faced with unspeakable hardships.

The raw emotion communicated through the lyrics displays Meta's pride in what he calls, "Africa, my place of birth." About his experience working with Damian Marley, Meta remarks, "It was truly an honor. To be able to record with Damian who is the son of reggae Legend Bob Marley speaks to the essence of the single. It was really a surreal moment in time that I will cherish. I think my overall joy was captured in the recording of this single and the album in general."  

The fourteen-track album will be released on April 30, 2013 through VPAL and Universal. Prior to the release, a private listening party will be held in New York City for media, industry insiders and specially invited guests. 

Manager, Victor E. Lewis remarks, "My Beloved Africa is really a glimpse of what is to come. Meta and Damian's chemistry is unmatched and I think that everyone will identify with the lyrics whether you are African or not. It's a global anthem. This single is going to fuel the excitement for the forthcoming album.

Dominican Rapper KAYYO Opens for Meek Mill


Rising Dominican hip-hop artist KAYYO (pronounced:/Kei/oh) opened for US rapper Meek Mill at a concert in St. Paul Minnesota on Friday March 8th to rave reviews.

The 20 year-old artist/producer (born Jordan George) thoroughly impressed the capacity crowd at the Myth venue with his delivery of three songs at the start of the show which was headlined by the Maybach Music Group rapper. KAYYO performed his versions of “Something”, and “Starting from the Bottom”- two songs by Canadian rapper Drake.

He also performed an original track “Talk About It” which he originally recorded with his brother Geremie ‘Jaffe’ George. "I am really happy with my performance. This was definitely a dream come true because I am a huge fan of Meek Mill, said the GShine Records artist. "I am also very glad about the new fans I have made who not only got introduced to my music but to Dominica as well."  

After a video of his performance was posted YouTube, new fan TonyaJ stated, “KAYYO did his thang. He now has lots of fans in MN!” Another YouTube viewer, 00Dredd wrote, “I ain’t a big fan of rap.. but this young boy got some major skills and a bright future in the business” KAYYO has been steadily gaining fans in Dominica in the last year, with the release of his debut video "Get to Know You" which garnered 12,000 YouTube views less than a month after its August 17 2012 premiere. 

He has also widened his fan base with collaborations with local acts including Remie-D (“Say What’s Real”), CHOEB (“On Me”) C Menace (“No Love”) and Rimz (“Get To Know You”, “All or Nothing”, “Smile”). His debut mixtape Constellation was a collaborative effort with Dominican rapper Jamie ‘Rimz’ Pollock. 

KAYYO is also featured on the Friday Freaks mixtape produced by Callian ‘Falcon DaDon’ James. With over 100 songs under his belt KAYYO is ready to capture the US market. His Remember Me mixtape debuted on leading mixtape promotion site DatPiff.com in partnership with Coast 2 Coast Mixtapes and GShine Records in 2012 and KAYYO is gearing up for his the release of his third mixtape Reevaluation on Wednesday March 13 2013 on the popular site. 

Fans have overwhelmingly voted him to perform at Coast2Coast Live on March 21 in Chicago Illinois in front of a panel of celebrity judges. Jordan ‘KAYYO’ George, (born October 6, 1992) is a producer, rapper and singer from the Caribbean island of Dominica. His love for Hip-Hop grew after frequent trips to his older brothers in the US and at 13 he started writing and producing his own music. 

Taking note of his talent Geremie and Kalvin invested their support and finances into their gifted sibling. With over 100 songs under his belt including (“Champion” “Living Legend” and “Rise to the Top”) two mixtapes (Constellation, Remember Me), as well as numerous collaborations with other Dominican artists, KAYYO is ready to put his stamp on the global music scene. 

His debut single “Get To Know You” received over 12,000 YouTube views less than a month after its August 17, 2012 premiere. Look out for his new mixtape Re-evaluation, due March 13, 2013.
