Jalena is Back with New Single and Video - Gunshot

Singer/songwriter Jalena is back with a bang with her new hit single "Gunshot" and its scintillating, sexy video. The track is now available worldwide on Jalena's third album Bad Reputation, and showcases yet another gem from the Tortola, British Virgin Islands-based chanteuse, whose signature sound fuses R&B and pop with native reggae, giving fans a taste of her diverse island heritage and propelling her to the forefront of the island pop genre and movement.

Penned by Jalena and produced by Jay B Beats, “Gunshot” touches on the ruff and tuff side of a good girl, who will fight the good fight for what she wants. It is already resonating with fans and finds a home especially with the female audience.

"I had the opportunity to perform ‘Gunshot’ for the very first time at the 2013 British Virgin Islands Music Festival,” reveals Jalena. “I was so overwhelmed by the crowd’s response, especially since it is a song no one had ever heard before. I’m looking forward to performing it again on July 6th when I open for Third World here at home in Tortola.”

The titillating “Gunshot” video was shot on location in Tortola and is directed by Gabriel A. Stephen. “Unlike my previous music videos, this one took a lot longer to shoot because of logistics - having to organize dancers, extras, locations and time schedules - and that was not easy,” discloses Jalena.

“I’m so happy with the outcome and the director did an amazing job, as always.” The video is currently gaining traction on YouTube and is now going into rotation on various television channels throughout the Caribbean and beyond.

This femme fatale has been leaving a lasting mark on the music industry since 2005, first starting out in the Caribbean’s up-tempo dance genre of soca. She has since evolved over the years in her craft and artistry, resulting in her current potpourri of pop, R&B and reggae.

Her influences include Shirley Bassey, Diana King, Patra, Pink and Jah Cure, and her music reflects that melting pot and thus presents the global audience with a unique island-meets-international sound that is rapidly becoming her trademark. "Gunshot" is now available on the Bad Reputation album on iTunes and all major digital retailers worldwide.

It was shot on location in New York City and was directed by Brian K. Roberts for Honest Illusions Multimedia. "This song showcases the softer side of reggae," reveals Natural Black. "I've done the party tune and the core reggae track, but with this one, I wanted to dig a little deeper and share something more personal with my fans.

Everyone experiences love and heartaches and I wanted to touch on that with this single, and hopefully touch a lot of people out there, who are going through the same thing."

The video was produced by Natural Black's own label, Shaggillia Records, along with his management and booking agency, Triple T Production. "We went for a simple, sleek look with this video," discloses Tasz Smith, CEO of Tripe T Prodcution. "Our goal was to showcase Natural Black's voice and the storyline more, so fans can truly feel the emotion of the song and therefore be able to relate to it." Natural Black has been claiming 2013 as his, with the release of five new singles - "I'm On My Way," "Natural Chronix," "Who Cares For Me," "Don't Play With My Heart" and "Party Truck."
