Precision Productions incites a Soca Emergency!

With every inhaled breath, palpable tension swarms through the barely restrained bodies of restless masqueraders. One can feel the energy of multiple island summer festivals throbbing in the air, and the stirring of riotous feet awaiting that particular fuel needed to propel them across the black carpets of the Caribbean. Precision Productions has listened attentively and using all of these emotions has conjured one rhythmic inoculation that is sure to relieve the entire region.

This cure comes in the declared release of the "Emergency Riddim". As the musical alarms sound off, a masterful team of artists is called in and placed on siren duty, each with a specific mission in mind. In charge of sharing tactical information is St. Lucia's current Groovy King, Teddyson "TJ" John, who alongside his crafty writing partner, Telvin John, hooks all with "Backa", which is Lucian slang for "Your Crew" and is one part must-have fete list, one part declaration of no-safe-gyration zone, and one part urgent road instruction.

Meanwhile Fya Empress, the first ever triple Monarch title holder in St. Vincent and the Grenadines, shows off her skill as she whips feters into a fevered state, with "We Ready", which was written by the dynamic duo of Akeem "Preedy" Chance and Stephanas "Steffy" Ramgattie of WiiMAD fame.

Majesty continues to reign as the Caribbean Queen of Bacchanal, Destra, joins the rumble intent on leaving nothing behind but dust in the frenetic "Mash Up" that was authored by Patrick "Mista Vybe" Gordon.

Bacchanal rules in the middle of all this action as St Lucia's 2010 Power Soca Monarch and Road March King, DJ HP, delivers an energetic illustration of the scenario painted by Mista Vybe who does double writing duty in this riddim, showing off his witty side, this time, in the mauvaise langue tummy-tickler "Maddd Again".

Now with this sure remedy flowing through the atmosphere, one question... are you ready to be charged with aiding and abetting this Precision Soca Emergency?

Chilando Rocks Zinc Shack

Show Di Vybz recording artiste Chilando is poised for a bright future in music. The talented Montegonian who has been hailed by many people out west as a star on the rise is rapidly emerging as one of the most promising young artistes in Montego Bay.

Performing at an event dubbed Miss Independence that was held last week Saturday at the Zinc Shack which is located on the Mobay Hip Strip, Chilando proved that he is worthy of the recognition that he is now enjoying.

Taking the stage in the wee hours of the morning clad in full black, he delivered a very strong performance which saw him reeling off songs such as Gwaan Yuh Fi Gwaan Gyal, Inna Di city, Gone So Easy, Nuh Tek Box Up and Gyal Dem Mi Love. His mixture of solid one drop songs and high energy danchall tracks earned him several forwards from the audience.

At the end of his set he was flocked by several patrons who showered him with praises about his performance. The soft spoken singjay says he had a really good time performing at the event. “It’s always a pleasure to be on stage, although I performed late at Miss independence I enjoyed it, as usual I delivered my best for my fans and I’m sure I got some new fans as well after that performance, I have to give thanks and big up the Mobay people for their love and support,” said Chilando.

Julian Marley Added To GYI U.S. Tour

Julian Marley has officially been added to the Ghetto Youths International's Set Up Shop Tour. The U.S. Pacific Coast run, which kicked off in Hawaii this past weekend, will also feature performances by rising Ghetto Youths Crew members Wayne Marshall, Jo Mersa, Black-Am-I and Christopher Ellis along with reggae heavyweights Damian "Jr Gong" and Stephen "Ragga" Marley. This Wednesday (June 19), Julian and Stephen "Ragga" Marley will join the rest of Ghetto Youths International members on stage at Marymoor Park in Seattle.

The crew continues to make stops at Los Angeles' Hollywood Bowl, Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, Sierra Nevada World Music Festival in Boonville, CA and more. The tour will come to a close on Tuesday, July 2 on their third sold-out night at the Belly Up in Solana Beach, CA. See full tour schedule below.

Ghetto Youths International is the family-owned record label incorporated in 2002 by Bob Marley's sons Julian, Stephen and Damian. The entity allows the brothers to work closely with each other on musical collaborations and release a catalogue of works featuring a new crop of artists as well as their own material.

The Set Up Shop Tour will support their recent compilation Ghetto Youths International Presents Set Up Shop Vol. 1, released in February on the Ghetto Youths imprint. The 14-track compilation features the talented Ghetto Youths International artists including Jo Mersa, Wayne Marshall, Black-Am-I, Christopher Ellis, Stephen "Ragga" Marley, Julian Marley and Damian "Jr. Gong" Marley and many more. The album peaked at #1 on the U.S. Billboard Reggae Album chart and the U.S. and Japan iTunes Reggae Album chart.

Set Up Shop Vol 1. also landed the # 2 spot on iTunes Reggae Album chart in the United Kingdom. The Ghetto Youths movement will continue this summer with solo projects from the crew's next generation of Jamaican reggae stars. The multi-faceted dancehall artist and songwriter Wayne Marshall is set to release his GYI debut album TRU Colors, and the album's explosive single "I Know" (produced by Damian Marley and Sean “Young Pow” Diedrick) recently bursted on the scene.

New EPs will follow from the culturally-inclined reggae singjay Black-Am-I, Christopher Ellis (the youngest son of legendary Jamaican vocalist Alton Ellis) and Jo Mersa (the second-generation offspring of Bob Marley and eldest son of Stephen "Ragga" Marley).
