Alborosie Embarks on U.S. Tour‏

Throughout February, MOBO award-winning Best Reggae Artist Alborosie will embark on a U.S. tour in support of his recent studio album Sound The System and vinyl-only companion piece Dub The System. Feb 15, the Italian-born reggae star made his east coast debut performance in Miami, FL at 9 Mile Music Festival, which also features Lauryn Hill, Tessanne Chin, Stephen "Ragga" Marley, Damian "Jr. Gong" Marley, Julian Marley and more.

Then he heads west, hitting The Showbox in Seattle, WA, Valley View Casino Center in San Diego, CA and the New Parish in Oakland, CA. Alborosie returns to California at the end of May for the California Roots Festival 2014. In between that time, he will journey to Europe for a tour consisting of mostly France dates.

He will be playing his classics as well as new material from his latest album Sound The System (VP/Greensleeves). The 16-track set encompasses a mix of live instruments and analogue recording techniques akin to reggae's golden age. He produced the majority of the tracks and played 90% of the accompanying instrumental parts. Special guests on the album include Ky-Mani Marley on the Bob Marley classic "Zion Train," Italian star Nina Zilli on ska-flavored track "Goodbye" and the legendary Abyssinians on the horn-drenched "Give Thanks."

The album includes sound-system favorite "Rock The Dancehall" and the hit single "Play Fool (To Catch Wise)." The 11-track deconstructed instrumental set features select songs from Sound The System, showcasing the producer's melodic hooks and impressive use of vintage recording equipment.

Both releases follow his two previous acclaimed Greensleeves studio albums - Two Times Revolution and Escape From Babylon. He is also slated to release Alborosie & Friends album in May 2014 on VP/Greensleeves, which features a variety of special guests on this collaborative effort.

Shaggy Continues to Conquer New Territories

Shaggy with prime minister of Solomon Island Gordon Darcy Lilo
Over the past few years the questions; is reggae and dancehall music dead? has been raised. This question depending on who it is presented to, can stir up a lot of feelings and spark up a good conversation. Yet, many find it hard to agree with anyone who answers that question with a YES.

For the past few weeks international dancehall and reggae super star Shaggy has hit the road again due to the demand since the release of his recent album 'Out of Many One Music'.

After a successful charity event, which Shaggy raised 70 million JMD for Bustamante Children
Hospital in Jamaica, he has hit the skies once again. Yet, the countries where he is scheduled to perform may sound a little unfamiliar to some, like Solomon Island. Solomon Island is a sovereign country consisting of a large number of islands in Oceania.

Hearing Jamaican artists travel to these parts of the world should be applauded. Each night they perform they are spreading the culture and raising the flag high. Shaggy is the first major superstar to perform on Solomon Island. Shaggy is no stranger to traveling and touring the globe, yet he is always so humbled by the experience to bring the music to the people even in the middle of the Pacific Ocean.

"Its always a good feeling to travel to these countries so far away from home and share my culture with them. Reggae and dancehall is very powerful" says Shaggy. These past few weeks Shaggy has performed at Raggamuffin Festival in Rotorua, New Zealand, Honiara, Solomon Islands and Papua New Guinea just to name a few. With the exception of Raggamuffin Festival, Shaggy has headlined all events and the year has just begun.

Nesbeth Tackles Ole Gangalee‏

The humble Rastafarian singjay is at it again, he is creating a wave of excitement with his latest single titled Ole Gangalee. The song that was produced by Connecticut based Kushface Records is blowing up FM radio.

Since its release a few weeks ago Ole Ganglee has become a staple on a number of local radio stations including IRIE FM and HITZ 92 FM.

“This song is a natural hit, the people love it a lot, and it’s creating a big buzz on the radio. Every time I touch the streets a lot of people tell me they love it.” According to Nesbeth he believes that Ole Gangalee’s success can be credited to its militant message.

“This song carries a very serious message, it’s telling the people not to bow or sell out to the system. These days we see some people doing all sorts of negative things to gain material things. Some of them will sell their souls for money, it’s sickening. As an artiste I have to encourage the youths to maintain their dignity and morality,” said Nesbeth. Nesbeth is also enjoying good attention with other singles such as Rasta Love and Hot Hot.

“Rasta Love and Hot Hot are getting good support too. I have to give thanks for the attention my music is getting from the media and the fans. It is really encouraging when you put out your songs and the people gravitate to it positively,” said Nesbeth. “The fans can look out for a lot of hit music from Nesbeth this year.

Over the last few weeks I’ve been in the studio working on new tracks for various producers. I will also be doing a number of shows both locally and abroad in the coming months. This is the year that Nesbeth will become a household name in Reggae music,” said the artiste.
