I-Octane and Vanessa Bling Record Single

Via Curtis Campbell, STAR Writer: Dancehall artiste Vanessa Bling, otherwise known as Gaza Slim, has collaborated with reggae/dancehall artiste I-Octane aka The Closer, for a new single called Cya Do It, produced by DJ Frass. According to the Independent Ladies singer, early indications suggest that the song will be popular in the dancehall.

Vanessa Bling has released several songs with Vybz Kartel since she was introduced to the music industry under his Portmore Empire camp. However, this marks her first collaboration with I-Octane, who earlier this year released a reggae album called My Journey.

"I-Octane called and told me that he has a song that he wanted us to do on DJ Frass' rhythm. By talking we decided on the concept over the cell phone and we linked up the same day to do the recording. I dropped a little piece of it on Instagram and everybody was excited and asking when are we planning to release it," she said.

The sinjay says a music video will be filmed for the song in coming weeks and music lovers can expect a sexy concept. Vanessa Bling is also modelling for Hollywood Fashion House and recently won an award at the 21st Hapilos annual award show for Independent Ladies which was chosen as the best selling EP. She is also gearing up to release a music video for her single How To Treat A Girl. "I also won an award at MIA Awards for best collaboration with Vybz Kartel, that song is called Stop Gwaan Tough," she said.

I-Octane and management are executing a promotional campaign for the single. "Mi haffi big up DJ Frass because a him produce the song. He wanted a different vibe from me and we decided to link up Gaza Slim, and she was not hard to deal with. The vibes was right and she quick and everything. She has never voiced with any other artiste outside of Kartel, but it was cool and a positive vibes and the song is already in high demand worldwide," I-Octane said. The singjay recently filmed a medley music video for singles We Run Di Flipping Place and Dem A Freak. The video was filmed by Bling Blang.

Shaggy Demolishes Hot 97 Reggae Tip

With his last performance in Venice, Italy, Grammy award winner Shaggy only had enough time to go back to his hotel room, pack his bags and head straight to the airport. Shaggy have been on a 5 weeks European tour, which was very successful.

Headlining several European festivals and club shows, each performance was well received."The fans loved the performance and the crowd participation , which Shaggy, his band, Rayvon and myself brought each night was just crazy.

You saw the excitement, enjoyment and happiness on the faces of the fans each night as they became a part of the show" says Shaggy's DJ Kue. Now off to a 10 hour flight, Shaggy was scheduled to perform at one of New York's biggest summer concerts, Hot 97 Reggae Tip. For the first time Reggae Tip was outdoors, the artist would perform on the Hudson River, which provided an ambiance like the days of Reggae SumFest. This years line up was full of heavy hitters, scheduled to perform were Samantha J, Tifa, Tessanne Chin, QQ, Kranium, Wayne Marshall, Bunji Garlin, Fayon Lyons, Beenie Man and Shabba Ranks.

In the midst of this heavy line up of artists was Shaggy and one may ask "how will Shaggy top his Hot 97 Reggae Tip performance last year"? For those who dont recall last years performance, lets refresh your memory. After performing a few songs of his catalog Shaggy called out Agent Sasco aka Assasin but the crowd would literally become dumb founded and start running and jumping when Shaggy called out the original 'Don Dadda' Super Cat, who has not performed in over 10 years. Well at 8:10 pm the band was ready and all you heard was the rhythm of Church Heathen drop as Shaggy began to DJ while stepping across the stage.

The crowd of several thousands began to scream and cheer as their hands went up in the air with excitement. Shaggy wasted no time as he called out a fellow Ranch entertainment artist and friend Rayvon who began to sing 'Big Up'. Then Red Fox who had the crowd in the palm of his hand would run out and begin dj-ing one of his classics 'Pose Off'. "It was hits after hits during Shaggy's set, I just couldn't even catch my breath, the way he had me screaming and jumping, it was just great" said Renee Wallace of Harlem NY.

Shaggy would go on to sing one of the crowds favorite "Fight this Feeling", as the crowd sang line for line. Then you heard Shaggy make an introduction in regards to his new single "With You", which also features international reggae crooner Sanchez. From side stage you began to hear 'OOOOOOOHHHH OH' (signature Sanchez sound) and walking out was Sanchez. If you thought the crowd could not jump anymore, you were wrong. Sanchez and Shaggy new single was so well received by the crowd you would have thought this single was released 6 months ago.

Well to top that off Shaggy was ready to make another introduction, this time it was a single from his recent album 'Out of Many One Music'. The single title "You Girl" features Neyo and Yes! Neyo walked out on stage to perform their hit single "You Girl" together. Ladies were ecstatic and the decibel level of Pier 97 was "Turnt Up'. But Shaggy had one more surprise up his sleeves and that was none other than Treach of Naughty by Nature.

Closing this segment of guests were Ranch Entertainment group RSNY, who came on stage with high energy as they performed their single 'Blaze it Up' on Ranch Entertainment 'Heaven Bless' rhythm. It was not only a one "Tun Up" on the Hudson, it was a musical experience to see diverse culture and age group wave and sing in unison.

"Loving what I do is very important and my support team and relationships i've built over the years always allows me to deliver in such a manner at Hot 97 Reggae Tip, As we all know you only have a few minutes to captivate that crowd and its on to the next" says Shaggy. Currently promoting his new single with Sanchez 'With You" and his new rhythm on Ranch Entertainment 'Take it Easy' Shaggy is definitely busy as his US Tour is scheduled to kick off several weeks from now.
