Assassin aka Agent Sasco Remixes #1 Billboard Topping Song, “Rude” by Magic!

Assassin aka Agent Sasco alongside producer Dom Da Bomb has released a remix for the #1 Billboard topping song, “Rude” by Magic!

The popular tune, now outfitted with the fine vocal distinction of Assassin, emphasizes the protective nature a father has for his little girl.

Agent Sasco directs his lyrics toward the suitor of his daughter, “well 1st of all you need to check your attitude. I’m not one of your boys, you can’t address me as no dude.”

Agent Sasco goes on, “this is my little girl my princess and my baby”, and “gonna take a lot more than a cheap suit to persuade me”.

Denzil Porter Wins The Source Magazine's Unsigned Hype Contest

Aspiring Hip Hop artiste Denzil Porter made a huge leap into the spotlight when he captured the top prize at the first staging of Source Magazine’s Unsigned Hype contest in New York City last Saturday. The Bronx born rapper who is of Jamaican parentage battled against 29 other contestants who came from all over the US, to walk away with the top prize. “I was surprised that I ended up in first place, the whole thing was surreal.

I didn’t really picture myself beating these other artistes. I was up against people like Kriss Kkassanova, Euroleague and Narubi Selah, in my eyes these artistes are very big on the Hip Hop underground circuit. It was a really competitive field. I’m just happy I came out on top.” The Rapper who calls Negril home when he’s in Jamaica will soon join the company of illustrious hip hop names such as Notorious B.I.G, the Wu Tang Clan and Eminem who were all featured in the Unsigned Hype section of Source Magazine when they just started out.

Denzil Porter will be featured in the Unsigned Hype section of the Man of the Year/Rookie of the Year edition of the magazine which will be published in December. The Unsigned Hype feature is published each month in the magazine which has been a significant part of the Hip Hop community for more than 20 years. Capturing the top spot in the contest also earned Porter a spot on the lineup of the Source 360 concert that was held at the famous Barclays Center in Brooklyn, the same evening he won the contest.

The event which was attended by over 15000 thousand patrons featured headline acts the Wu Tang Clan along with Lil’ Kim, Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, Curren$y and Dom Kennedy. “Performing at the Barclays center felt natural to me, I wasn’t even nervous, it felt like I was fulfilling a part of my destiny. After that performance I felt like this is what I’m supposed to be doing. So there’s no turning back for me now as an artiste.

This is a dream come true,” said Porter. Denzil Porter is also celebrating another big achievement as his song titled Rock Paper Scissors is featured in the recently released motion picture called Kid Cannabis. The song was originally released in 2012 on his mix tape project called Porter’s Pot.

'My Journey Is Definitely Taking Me On A Journey,’ Says I-Octane

With the release of his sophomore album, My Journey, singjay, I-Octane effectively silenced the naysayers who felt that his repertoire was “too dancehall”. Infusing more reggae beats into this album has paid off handsomely, ensuring that the artiste’s demand has skyrocketed as his global fan base keeps growing.

The versatile I-Octane jokes that his weekends now start on Thursdays and end on Tuesdays, but he’s certainly not complaining. This reggae ambassador says his main aim is to “keep things balanced and never ignore my home fans”. And perhaps that’s why he is never far away from the local scene.

This weekend he will be off to Rochester USA, for a show on Friday, but his itinerary sees him returning to Jamaica on Saturday to do Margaritaville in St Ann and then perform in Kingston at the Bike Fest at the National Stadium on Sunday,September 28th.

“My Journey is definitely taking me on a journey,” declared the singer who was the featured act at the Behind The Screens series at Usain Bolt Tracks and Records(UBTR) on Tuesday September 23rd. Interestingly, I-Octane aka The Closer had returned to the island from the US that same Tuesday, having performed at a show in Boston on Saturday, followed by a concert in South Carolina on Monday night. But his energy level was so high, that no-one at UBTR could tell that he had stepped off a plane hours before, after a long performance the previous night.

Delivering the best of his dancehall and reggae selections, Octane kept the near-capacity audience on their toes and he even had a special treat for them when he called on stage – via his Digicel phone – his special guest, Vanessa Bling. The “Hot Ras”, as she styled him, was in a mood to be entertained, and after they performed Can’t Do It, their hit collaboration which the fans inside UBTR couldn’t seem to get enough of, he allowed Vanessa Bling to do her thing, which she did very well. Or, it would perhaps be more accurate to say, “which they did very well”, because the chemistry between them, even while she was doing her solo pieces, was palpable.

“It was just the vibes. Some of it was rehearsed, some wasn’t. But it all went over well, and, most importantly, the audience loved it,” said the Study You Friend singer, who had also given talented young act,Bryka, a moment to shine. In closing, I-Octane stated, “I think that Vanessa Bling is a great artiste and I have maximum respect for her management. It’s a good look when the female artistes get the props that they so deserve.”
