LAVA TIME AGAIN!!! I-Wayne Prepares for US Tour

After what seems like a deliberate hiatus from the forefront of the music industry, Reggae crooner, I-Wayne as re-emerged with nothing short of his usual dominance; and any one in attendance at either his recent cameo alongside Kabaka Pyramid at Usian Bolt’s Tracks & Records, or at the Roots FM event held recently at Ashanti’s restaurant in New Kingston, will attest to the fact without reservation that fya Wayne as not lost a step, but may’ve even mastered a few new ones; but be that what it is, the questions remain, what’s new, where as he been and what as I-Wayne been up to?

“Well Fya Wayne been up to what I am normally up to, creating music and preserving life,” declares I-Wayne in his no-nonsense attitude, as he instructs his band in a rehearsal for his upcoming US Tour, set to kick off in late October.

According his publicist, Karl Larmond, “the tour, (The I & I Tour) which consists of over thirty-six stops, kicks off in California on October the 22nd and ends in Florida on the 29th of November, and at the same time is also a prelude to I-Wayne’s upcoming acoustic album.” “The I & I tour, is mostly a west coast, mid-west tour,” explains Larmond, “which is predominantly the Reggae market in the United States, so we are focusing carefully on our target audience.”

The tour will also feature upcoming Reggae act, Black-Am-I from the Ghetto Youths Camp, who has been creating waves recently with his single, Sampson Strength, which was featured on Junior Gong’s Set Up Shop Volume 1 compilation. Fans can catch I-Wayne locally at Olympia Crown Hotel in concert on October 4th, or check out his new singles on youtube or on his facebook page – Reggae Music, Versatile, featuring Kabaka Pyramid, and Love and Honour for Mama.

Nyanda Causes Big Trouble

Songstress Nyanda has been causing a major stir on the international scene with her hit single Trouble. Having topped charts in Uganda and Kenya the artiste has followed up the track with a video which has been getting rave reviews across several markets.

This is the latest hit from the pretty pop singer, whose sensational vocals first came to prominence during her stint as part of the Jamaican Reggae/Crossover trio, Brick and Lace. Since its release, the video for Trouble has made it to the top 20 charts in Uganda and Kenya, and has earned a four week feature on Tempo’s Cross Caribbean Countdown, peaking at #3.

Before the video release, the catchy track was holding its own, having broken into the UK Music Week Top 30 Club Charts where it stayed for 6 weeks.

“Initially we never even planned to do a video for the song, but we started receiving tremendous feedback and requests for a video to accompany the vocals. The requests just became so overwhelming that we had to do it for the fans and I am happy to see the result and the reception that it has been getting,” said Nyanda.

Nyanda recently appeared on the 22nd staging of Jamaica’s annual Reggae Sumfest music festival where she gave an electrifying performance alongside The Wizard, Chedda, Mr. Lexx and Kat Deluna. The spirited vocalist is not only currently working on the completion of her album, which is expected in 2015, but is also featured on upcoming albums from Cham and European Pop singer Arash.

The former Brick and Lace singer was named as Goodwill Ambassador for Youth Organizations in Uganda through the Reach a Hand programme, where she headlined a Women’s Day Concert and is actively engaged in educating youths on issues surrounding teenage pregnancy and STIs. She also recorded and released a single for the campaign titled, Your Ways. The buzz being created by the hit single Trouble, and its recently released video, has fuelled a wave of popularity for Nyanda, with sparkling reviews being received across several markets.

New Hot Reggae Hit From Trinidad's Matthew Greenidge

Great things have been happening for T&T’s reggae industry and while for many, the concept of worldwide recognition for this locally adopted entertainment variation may seem far-fetched, the recent release of a 12 track Reggae album out of T&T that has made it to iTunes’ ‘New and Noteworthy’ list, is no laughing matter.

Standing proudly behind the success of this latest album release are the artiste, Matthew Greenidge and the production house that is responsible for the creation of a few of the album’s 12 singles, Jahlight Records.

The album aptly entitled, “Jah Rules Over All” is doing well outside of Trinidad and Tobago with tracks like, ‘Babylon Deception,’ which features Queen Omega, Never Forget My King’ featuring Solomon, ‘Your Love,’ ‘He Loves Forever’ and the title track, ‘Jah Rules Over All’ being touted among music experts overseas as must hear melodies that are complimented by deeply rooted lyrics.

The album was released by Jahlight Records out of Trinidad and Tobago, however several of the singles were produced by international producers, among them, Flow Production out of Switzerland, One Harmony Records, out of the United Kingdom and Elementree Productions out of the United States. Also aiding locally was Studio 53- a prominent name on the Trinidad and Tobago music circuit, having been responsible for the production of several well-known reggae tracks. Matthew Greenidge is enjoying every minute of his music’s journey.

Already, the album has been positively reviewed by veteran music journalist, Alex Henderson – a writer whose words have been featured in Billboard Magazine, The L.A. Weekly and a lengthy list of notable publications. The Jamaica Star has also delivered a positive review of the album to its readers, allowing its audience to gather an initial overview of what’s to come as videos for the singles are unleashed one by one. Already, Greenidge and his team have released a video for the album’s first single, ‘He Loves Forever’- a video produced by Kingdom House Concepts. A second video is now in the works for the title track, ‘Jah Rules Over All.’

The album, Greenidge’s debut of such, has been so well received that producers across the world have been requesting his vocal input on their productions. Currently, he’s working on music with the UK’s Dukie Dread’s Step Faarward Music, and recently, Greenidge voiced singles with Canada’s Jah Servant Records. Those two songs have been titled, ‘Jah Is The Father’ and ‘Spiritual War’. His journey continues and no matter the challenge, Greenidge is ready, putting his God first as he makes his way to the mainstream gospel market, prepared to infect the conscious and those less inclined with the greatness of God’s love, through music.

ABOUT THE ARTISTE:

Matthew Greenidge has been recording reggae music since 2011, having started his career under the guidance of producers at Pengco Music and Studio 53 in Trinidad and Tobago. In 2012, he began his musical journey with T&T’s Jahlight Records, a well- respected production house, known for its involvement in the gospel and reggae music industries. Together with Jahlight Records, Greenidge has recorded several singles, among them, ‘Bob Marley’, ‘Burn To Learn’ and ‘Hail The King.’ He subsequently began working on his debut album- ‘Jah Rules Over All.’ Matthew Greenidge is highly influenced by musical greats such as Bob Marley, Glen Washington, Gregory Isaac and a less notable but highly respected elder cousin, Rincher.
