KC Jockey Sends a Better Message to the World

Jamaican born and New York bred international R&B artist, KC Jockey, is sending a positive message to the world through his newest music video gone viral, "Girl You're Free." And with view counts soaring over the web, exhibitors including some of the countries biggest Cable TV and Satellite providers have picked up the video for circulation.

In his newest music video from the Sweet Sadie Records upcoming release, Broken Hearted Powerful Women, KC plays the character of an abusive husband whose brave wife finally finds the courage to stand up and free herself. The video has gone viral since last weeks release, and stands as an incredible example to all artists of the responsibilities they have and the power they possess to make the world a better place for all. In a recent interview with KC, the artist stated, "I believe from the heart that when we learn to respect our females, the world will be a better place to live and appreciate. I am still learning, so I am not perfect, but first and foremost, respect is the key, and the first step."

KC Jockey is no stranger to the method of using song to spread a greater message to the people; being greatly inspired by Jamaica's most beloved artist, and probably one of the most influential singer-songwriters to guide social change through music, Bob Marley; and KC's new video follows Marley's footprints in a battle for change. The song and video were both carefully arranged to speak out against domestic abuse and to endorse the women of the world, KC says, "We as men love and cherish them (women) no matter what, and we need to acknowledge accept and admit when we do wrong to their loving hearts."

The video was released about two weeks ago and is closely reaching 80,000 views on YouTube. It has also recently been added to a number of regional closed-circuit providers including; Time Warner, COX, and Comcast. The video has also been picked up by a number of large retail pools that service programming for Bars, Gyms, Hotels, Casinos, Convenience Stores, Medical Offices and select retail stores and lifestyle outlets. Also just got word secretly that it will be a part of a movie soundtrack to a movie that will be done by a major film company on a female who has been in a brutal and fatal domestic violence battered womens real true life story.

Statement From Busy Signal

In this a time of reflection, I would like to thank my fans who have supported me through this difficult situation and who will continue to support me. Your messages and prayers via social networks and via members of my team are what have brought light to the darkness of my cell.

I have never admitted that I was involved in any drug deal or drug arrangement. I waived my rights to an extradition trial here in Jamaica, so that I can return to the US to face a charge of absconding bail ONLY. This incident took place ten (10) years ago before I even considered becoming an artiste.

As you can understand, this is a difficult time for me, however during my time away, my fans will not be left with a void – there are several unreleased tracks that will definitely keep you “busy” until my return. I recently released my album Reggae Music Again, which debuted at number 5 on the Billboard Reggae charts. On my recent tour of Amsterdam and Paris, we shot elements for the video to the title track of the album. It features cameos from Marcia Griffiths, Queen Ifrica and Anthony B and that will be released in a couple of weeks.

For my fans overseas, my management team has been in dialogue with promoters who have all shown their support for me and my situation and for that I thank them.
For my family, you have stood by me through thick and thin and I know you will continue to do so. In my time away, I have made the necessary arrangements with my management team to have you taken care of until my return. To my band. Hi-Voltage, you have toured the world with me and have been a tower of strength. Continue to make good music until I return, cause the mission will continue.

I know that my facebook page has been inactive for a while, but, starting this week, Shane Brown, head of Juke Boxx management team, will assume direct control of my twitter account - @busysignal_turf and my facebook page - www.facebook.com/OneBusySignal.

I will be kept updated so please continue to send your love, support and prayers through these channels, as they keep me going.
To my legal team, KD Knight, Bert Samuels and Roxanne Mars, your positive words and unfailing belief and support in me and my case have made this situation a little easier to bear. Thank you very much.

Finally my friends, my fans and my family, thank you again from the depths of my heart. Please keep me in your prayers. “We not going down, cause God alone controls my destiny”

Daville Kicks Off 10-Show Tour Of Germany

Reggae singer, Da'Ville, who has firmly bounced back from a self-imposed break from music, is bursting with enthusiasm and ready to go wherever his career takes him.

After concluding a mini tour of the US East Coast and then hopping over to French Guyana in April, Da'Ville has now packed his bags again and this time he is heading to Europe, more specifically, Germany.

This will be the singer's opportunity to reconnect with his fans on that side of the globe and reclaim his space in the European market, which has always fully embraced him.

Da'Ville, who departed the US for Germany on May 24, explained that so far there are ten confirmed dates, with the first show taking place on May 26 in Mannheim. Among the other German cities where he is scheduled to perform are Berlin, Stockholm, Vienna, Helsinki, Stuttgart, Zurich, Basel and Mechelen with back-to-back shows between June 1 and 6. This will mean a lot of driving every day to get to the venues and sound checks on time, but Da'Ville says he is ready, both physically and mentally, for this grueling run.

"This is my career...music is what we do and touring is an essential part of it. That's how artistes make money, but equally important is the connection with fans in various countries. And, Germany is fascinating. Here are people of a different culture, many of whom don't even speak your language, yet they know your songs and will pay their hard-earned money to see you.

That alone is enough to make you want to leave from one venue to the next without complaining," the singer said. He added, "And, of course, I have been taking care of my body, getting myself ready for the road. As artistes, we have to pay keen attention to these things," Da'Ville said, laughing as he flexed his biceps.

Known for his lover's rock songs that have mass appeal, the Jamaican entertainer's popularity soared in 2007, when he made a huge breakthrough with the Penthouse/Donovan Germain-produced single, Always On My Mind. Shortly after that he made a move to the US, for personal reasons.

Since 2011, Da'Ville has been easing himself back into the hearts of his huge female fan base and has been in studio with JA Productions, Penthouse, Sean 'Seanizzle' Reid and Cash Flow Records and has also inked a management and booking contract with Ray Alexander's Khool International..
Da'Ville's Germany tour runs from May 26 through to June 11.

Cherine's "Eagles & Doves" On KISS FM UK Fresh Track of the Week

Jamaican songstress Cherine's "Eagles & Doves" has been selected by major UK radio station, KISS FM as their Kiss Fresh Track of the Week. The song has been receiving positive feedback from DJs both locally and international.

"Eagles & Doves" is produced by Dream Queen and Shadow for the Dancehall-Soul Label and is the follow-up single to Cherine's powerful ballad "How We Living."

The radio mix of the song samples the Sly & Robbie 90's hit beat "Fed Up" and is perfect for the summer. Both the radio as well as the acoustic versions of "Eagles & Doves" will be available for digital music purchase on major online music stores, including iTunes and Amazon, in June.

Cherine first performed the acoustic version of the song at the Princess Diana Award reception honoring Jamaican Olympic athlete Asafa Powell to overwhelming positive response by those in attendance. The song has since been requested to be performed for events supporting cancer outreach and has been a hit with school children during her participation in the Reach One Child Jamaica School Tour. "Eagles & Doves" was also used for both the radio and television commercials for the recently held "Women Expo", an initiative of the Bureau of Women Affairs and United Nations funded "Way Out Project" aimed at creating opportunities for Jamaican women in business.

Legendary DJ and KISS FMs broadcaster David Rodigan has been a long term supporter of great Jamaican music and stated, " "Eagles & Doves" is a charismatic song of hope delivered with true passion and verve over a driving powerhouse rhythm. Cherine is unquestionably one of Jamaica's most outstanding and soulful vocalists."

Cherine is set to perform at several festivals in North America this summer including Sierra Nevada World Music Festival in Booneville, California, Calgary Reggae Festival in Alberta Canada as well as Salmon Arm Roots & Blues Festival in British Columbia. Adding to her many activities her team has released a series of dancehall tracks, "Haffi Come Back" (Coolie Gyal Riddim) as well as the new duet "Make Love To Me" featuring new hot DJ G-Blunt, that are already creating a buzz locally.

Rebecca Stirm Sews Her Way To win #4 on Mission Catwalk

Having won prior challenges on episodes two, four and six, Rebecca Stirm’s episode 9 win makes the Belizean the winningest designer on Season Two of Caribbean fashion reality series Mission Catwalk which has seen participants from five Caribbean countries competing in its second season. After a visit to the Hope Zoo, the seven remaining contestants were instructed to design a gown for a charity gala and a second garment for a charity luncheon inspired by one animal from the zoo.

Rebecca chose the turtle because it was “an unusual and unique animal that people didn’t already have preconceptions about what turtle- inspired garment should look like.”

Using a kaleidoscope patterned fabric similar to the pattern on a turtle’s shell; Rebecca created a gown with dramatic neckline while using layers of different fabrics in circular cutouts to build a skirt that would mimic a turtle’s shell while still allowing movement. For her second outfit the kaleidoscope fabric was more prominent and used for most of the blouse, while the pencil skirt was in a monotone beige..

The judges Keneea Linton-George host and executive producer of Mission Catwalk, Novia McDonald-Whyte senior associate editor lifestyle and social content at the Jamaica Observer; menswear designer Carlton Brown and guest judge designer Celia Levy commended Rebecca on the structure of her design. For Levy the fact that it was “wearable” was also highly appealing. Her high scores won her a feature in Style Observer as well as a JA$50,000 (US$583).

Unfortunately this week, Kesia Estwick of Barbados was eliminated. The St. Phillip designer has scored her first win two episodes back. Six designers are still in the running for the chance to show at London Fashion Week. They are Crystal Powell, Gregory Williams and Janel Jolly of Jamaica, Ryan Chan of Trinidad & Tobago, Kerin Scott of Barbados and Belize’s Rebecca Stirm.

The lucky winner of Mission Catwalk Season Two will also receiveJMD$500,000 courtesy of National Commercial Bank of Jamaica (NCB) to start their clothing line, industrial sewing equipment valued at JMD$200,000 courtesy of singer Jamaica, a contract to sell their designs at SOHO boutique, a six-page fashion editorial in Ocean Style Magazine, a scholarship to pursue fashion program at London College of Fashion and an apprenticeship with Master Savile Row Tailor Andrew Ramroop.

Tune in to Television Jamaica every Tuesday at 8:30 PM for the newest episode from Mission Catwalk Season 2, presented by NCB, Supreme Ventures and Digicel. Each week’s episode repeats at 5:30Pm on Thursdays. Mission Catwalk can also be viewed on local stations in Barbados, Belize, Grenada, Guyana and Trinidad and Tobago. Irish and Chin Solidifies Media Presence with SOUND CHAT RADIO‏

New York, New York -- World-renowned Dancehall promoters Irish and Chin have done it again, this time landing a weekly 6-hour block of airtime on radio, canvassing the Tri-state area of New York, New Jersey and Connecticut. Together, with streaming live on their website www.irishandchin.com and other affiliates, Sound Chat Radio reaches thousands of listeners every Monday between 7-10pm EST and Tuesday from 5-8pm EST.

Sound Chat Radio went live in August 2011 and is the initiative of Garfield ‘Chin’ Bourne, one half of the company’s dynamic promotions duo -- the other being Gilbert Murchison. Hosted by ‘Chin’ and co-host Ninja of Mighty Crown, the shows thus far have scored prominent, exclusive guests, including major sound system players, legends and influential figures such as Bass Odyssey, Kilimanjaro, Black Kat, David Rodigan, Geefus, Tony Matterhorn, Downbeat, Fire Links, Black Scorpio, Jazzy T, King Jammy’s among others.

Meanwhile, top music personalities such as Cham, Lady Saw, Tifa, Elephant Man, Romain Virgo, I-Octane, Chris Martin, Lady G, Konshens, among others, have been hosted within the shows’ special interview feature called Chat Release. Other features of the shows include Singles Spotlight and Riddim Review, where newly released Dancehall/Reggae songs and rhythms as well as albums are highlighted, giving an opportunity to established as well as upcoming singers, deejays, producers to share their projects with Sound Chat Radio’s growing global audience.

Critical and controversial discussions are also a main feature of the shows’ objective such as those concerning the present state of the music. The opinions and overall experiences of Reggae/Dancehall’s industry stalwarts Donovan Germaine and Cleveland ‘Clevie’ Browne have been among the guests that continue to ensure that its programming is lively, constructive and valuable.

Sound Chat Radio has already become one of the top Caribbean programs on stations through out the Tri-State area including Energy Radio (energyradio.co), New Jersey's Road Block Radio (roadblockradio.com), Springfield's Jammys Radio (jammysradio.com) and Brooklyn's Red Hot Radio (redhotradio1.net). Since Sound Chat Radio's growth in popularity, not only is it a top show in key areas, there is a huge demand to further air the program on stations within the Caribbean diaspora.

According to 'Chin', “It only made sense for us to further develop our media presence in order to truly capture and capitalize on what was already a huge fan following and still growing demand for the company via our branded events and promotions. So, extending to radio was a no brainer.”

Irishandchin.com has over 70 thousand registered users, earning the promoters an enviable database reach. Adding to this is their other major promotion of bringing top rated Jamaican plays to the Tri-State’s Jamaican Diaspora. Their next venture is “The Politician”, starring ‘Delcita’, ‘Shebada’, Michael ‘Stringbean’ Nicholson and Christopher ‘Johnny’ Daley, written by Paul O. Beale, which is set for May 26th and 27th in Hartford, Connecticut and Queens, New York respectively.

The Irish and Chin brand is this year celebrating 15 years, during most of which they garnered respect for their heavily branded World Clash global sound system competition, as well as management of the Japanese sound system Mighty Crown who to date stands as the only sound system to have had major corporate contracts with multi-million dollar brands such as 5 sold out Nike shoe endorsements, 1 limited edition signature sneaker deal with Clae, a high end luxury footwear line based in California, and their latest being a partnership with the hugely popular Clarks.

Crystal Powell wins Mission Catwalk Avant Garde Challenge‏

Jamaican Crystal Powell wowed judges on Mission Catwalk episode eight with an avant garde, couture garment made from alternative material- old newspapers and materials from a hardware store. This is the second win for the 25 year-old who previously won the Flapper challenge on episode three.

For Crystal, the win was a confidence booster: “I got a chance to show the judges that I can be dramatic and over the top and very intense, moods I usually reserve for my poetry and drawings. Avant guarde is highly regarded in fashion, so for me it was a validation of my design acumen.”

Inspired by the Crusades, Crystal wanted her design to be pretty but unsettling to reflect “how something which purportedly started out with good intentions could have such devastating and ugly results. “

The garment’s top was made from newspaper with a unique amour-like stencil made by applying black spray paint over a polyflex sink protection mat. The collar and belt of the dress (made from folded newspapers spray painted in red) formed both a sword and cross.

The skirt was made of cut newspaper folded into flower-like shapes, still using the same stencil pattern but this time sprayed in red. The bold and dark effect was accentuated by black flowers, lipstick and gloves. The purple feather earring and cobalt (blue) tights were used to incorporate the traditional colours of priesthood- purple, red and blue and continue the theme of the Crusades. Copper and steel wires added for further dramatic effect.

Crystal’s effort won her a feature in OCEAN Style Magazine. Guest judge and editor of OCEAN Style, Douglas Gordon thought her work was “creative, interesting, well-constructed and editorial-ready.” Equally impressed were the regular judging panel: Keneea Linton-George, host and executive producer of Mission Catwalk, Novia McDonald-Whyte Jamaica Observer Lifestyle editor and Carlton Brown, celebrated menswear designer.

Though Ryan Berkeley of Guyana did meet the challenge requirement, the episode five runner-up received the lowest score and was sent home. Of the remaining seven designers, three are Jamaican (Crystal Powell, Janel Jolly and Gregory Williams), two are from Barbados (Kesia Estwick and Kerin Scott) while Trinidad and Belize have one representative each in Ryan Chan and Rebecca Stirm. Mission Catwalk originally started with an all Jamaican cast, with season two seeing participants from five countries from around the region.

The series will climax with a grand showdown at Caribbean Fashion Week with the top three designers in June. To find out ‘Who will rule the catwalk?’, keep watching the show which airs Tuesdays at 8:30 PM on TVJ and is simultaneously streamed online at http://www.televisionjamaica.com/livetv.aspx. Episodes also repeat Thursdays at 5:30 PM. Presented by NCB, Supreme Ventures and Digicel, Mission Catwalk is now shown in six regional countries: Jamaica, Barbados, Trinidad and Tobago, Grenada, Guyana and Belize.

KG's Latest Video Shot In Guyana

The video for gospel singer KG's latest single, Ride Out The Storm was shot during a recent trip to Guyana. And although some may question her patriotism, KG quickly dismisses any suggestion that she is anything but totally Jamaican.

"Actually, it was Guyana who chose me and, naturally I jumped at the opportunity," she explained. "Furthermore," KG added, "as an artiste, I am developing my fan base and with the love that I was shown by the Guyanese people on my recent trip there, I feel honoured to have shot a video there."

According to KG, it was during a conversation with some newfound friends in Guyana that the subject pf her video for the single came up and an offer was made for her to do the video shoot there and then. In no time, she and the video director, Colin S.Edghill Telford, linked uo with his team to put together the storyboard and from there everything just flowed.

"I could feel God's hand guiding this project. They chose the location, Promenade Gardens, a beautiful place that was perfect for the message of the song. It felt as if I had worked with this team before, despite the fact that we hardly knew each other," KG stated.

The storyboard for Ride Out The Storm relates the experiences of a couple facing difficult times in their relationship and the way in which God turns around things for them through their storms. The video is in the last stages of editing and is due to have its premiere by the end of May.

KG's singles Ride Out The Storm, Highly Favoured and Blessed, God Alone. Lifting Up Praise, Lord Do Mi Again and the controversial Who Me, You Mad, have been generating much feedback from both the gospel and secular arenas. Her debut album is almost completed and is due in stores by mid-year.

Sajay Upset With Lady Saw

Dancehall Princess Sajay is very upset about comments that were recently made by top female deejay Lady Saw on TVJ’s weekend entertainment program ER. Sajay said the comments that were made by the older and more established artist were very disrespectful and distasteful.

“I feel very upset, how can you struggle in the business and make it to the top and say no other female artist can fill your shoes? It’s like you are saying to the rest of us that no matter how much talent we have and no matter how hard we work we will never amount to anything, that’s not nice, we look up to you, many of us aspire to be like you, so please don’t disrespect us because you are now rich and no longer struggling,” said Sajay in a very angry tone.

According to Sajay she will not be fazed by such negative comments as she has every confidence in the world that in due time she too will be a force to be reckoned with in the dancehall arena.

“I am not pleased about what was said and I will not let it hold me back, because I know that with hard work and dedication I too will achieve great success in the music business. When I make it I plan to help others to climb up the ladder of success instead of pushing them down.

Sajay is currently enjoying much attention in the dancehall with songs including Nuh New Cama, Wine and Mi Look. She is preparing to shoot music videos for two singles Mi Look Good and Wine.

Dancehall Giants Featured On Mr. Brown Rhythm Project

In 1970, Bob Marley & the Wailers recorded the song Mr. Brown for producer Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry at the Randy’s recording studio in Kingston. Now 42 years later, the beat accompanying the enigmatic track has found favour with a new generation of music lovers. The Mr. Brown rhythm has been updated by producer Adrian Hanson and Peter ‘Shady’ Harrison. Released on the Shadyville Music/Donsome Records imprint, the project has already warmed the airwaves with songs from a hit list of entertainers and newcomers.

However the songs on the Mr. Brown rhythm project are not only attracting solid rotation in Jamaica but also in parts of Europe and North America. In a release to the media, Hanson explained the idea behind the updating of the Mr. Brown rhythm.

‘Myself and Peter ‘Shady’ Harrison decided that we wanted to bring back a real reggae vibe to the music where the fans can feel, the real culture vibes that been missing from reggae music today. So we go back to the roots of reggae and first song that came to mind was Mr. Brown by Bob Marley & the Wailers”, said Hanson.

Work on the project had been in the pipeline for sometime but the producers decided not to release the compilation until they had all the artistes that they wanted for the project.

Said Hanson, ‘Even though some radio disc jocks had been playing some of the songs for a while, this is the first time that music fans all over the world can actually purchase the project as a compilation”. The Mr. Brown rhythm compilation album features 19 songs and two instrumentals including a dub version of the Mr. Brown rhythm. Hanson revealed that the label had a working relationship with the artistes hence it wasn’t a difficult task to get the artistes involved.

Among the artistes who are featured on the compilation are Tanya Stephens, Aidonia (who recorded his first ever one drop song for the project), Half Pint, Perfect, Jack Radics, Natural Black, Beenie Man, Anthony Cruz, Anthony Red Rose, Lukie D and budding singer Khristopher.

Early response to the project has been nothing short of overwhelming. The tracks by Stephens, Half Pint, Natural Black, and Aidonia are among the tracks which have so far found favour with radio disc jocks. The songs are all available on ITunes. The Mr. Brown rhythm compilation is the latest project out of the Donsome Records stables. The label is best known for its chart topping rhythm projects including Hard Rock, Life Journey, Kill Dem, and Crime Stop rhythms.

The track list for the Mr. Brown rhythm reads: Ma by Aidonia; In Jah We Trust by Turbulence; Remember the Days by Lukie D; Tune in by Natural Black; Love Come First by Perfect; Tomorrow by Beenie Man; Not the Same by Don Mafia; Dirty Thoughts by Tanya Stephens; Last Night by Half Pint; Because of You by Khristopher; Don’t Give Up by Frisco Kid aka Ancient Monarchy; H.O.T.H. by Stein; Feel up Feel Up by Anthony Cruz; Confusing World by Hero; High Crisis by Anthony Red Rose; Gotta Survive by Stacious; and Don’t Stress Man by Merciless.
‘So far I would say this is one of my best projects to date”, Hanson concluded.

Silver Words Mines Gold

Singer Robert Minott’s cover of Silver Words has topped the Jamaica Music Countdown Top 25 Reggae Singles chart. Silver Words was made popular in reggae circles in the 1970’s by Ken Booth. However, the song was originally written and recorded by Sixto Diaz Rodriquez in 1971.

Silver Words is the second chart topping single for Minott, a former concert promoter who has delved into the recording aspects of the music business. “I feel blessed, humbled and thankful that the song has reached number one. The support that the song has received from radio disc jocks and the media, has been overwhelming”, Minott said in a release to the media.

Silver Words peaked at number four on the New York Reggae chart. On the Pree Dis Top Ten Singles chart which airs on TEMPO, the track got as far as number five. The accompanying music video has been in rotation on MD-TV, TEMPO Networks, RE-TV and HYPE TV. The follow up to Silver Words is the track Someone to Love which features dancehall toaster Busy Signal. Minott believes that artistes who continue to produce quality music will reap the rewards.

“We have to continue to produce quality music that is appreciated and accepted by the fans and the media, because without their support, a lot of things wouldn’t be possible”, said Minott. Minott plans to release Someone to Love later this month. The accompanying music video is set to be shot in Jamaica under the direction of video director Nordia Rose.

The singer’s forthcoming album is still under construction and he promises that upon completion, fans will not be disappointed. “I’ve been super busy in the studios finishing up the album and all I can say right now is that the fans will not be disappointed”, Minott concluded.

Tifa Advises To Beware Of Scammers

High riding dancehall female artiste Tifa is the latest entertainer to have fallen victim to scammers. Individuals have been posing as booking agents and have been booking shows on her behalf. In a release to the media, Tifa advised that anyone who wishes to book her for performances should contact her authorized agents.

“I felt it was necessary to make the public aware of my booking situation because unscrupulous persons have been telling people that they are booking for me, when they were not, neither have they been passing information on to me about these bookings. So I just want the public to know that Headline Entertainment is my exclusive booking agent”, Tifa explained. Persons are being urged not to give monies to these unauthorized persons.

The artiste, who has been riding the charts in Africa with three singles inside that country’s dancehall top ten, has a bunch of new songs released. They include Love Me 2 featuring Laza Morgan, Destiny featuring Konshens on the Wet Up rhythm; Niceness on the TNS rhythm from CR203 Productions; Wife Me Up for 12 to 12 Productions’ Hot Chocolate rhythm; and Ex Man for Washroom Entertainment.

Fans can also look out for new recordings on projects from Ward 21, ZJ Chrome, Chimney Records and UIM among others. Gradually Makes Reggae History Protoje

As far as contemporary Jamaican artists go, only Sean Paul, Shaggy and Gyptian have done it before. Now add to the list Protoje, who was the fourth Jamaican artist to perform in the United Arab Emirates this century. He reminisced about his recent performance on a roof top in Dubai with the world famous Burj Al Arab, the world's fourth tallest hotel, in plain view.

""While I was performing, I was able to look around and see these landmarks that I had only seen in books," marveled the Saint Elizabeth native. "It let me know that Reggae music is a powerful force and I am determined to do my part to keep spreading it."

On the trip with Protoje was ZJ Liquid, one of the first disc jockeys on a mainstream Jamaican radio station (ZIP 103 FM) to play his music. In Dubai, Liquid also broke new ground by playing music live on Radio 1 for more than an hour. Radio 1 is Dubai's leading urban radio station.

Protoje is becoming a well seasoned force on the international Reggae scene. His next move is the Rasta Love Tour, a ten date series of events on the west coast of the United States, primarily in California and Washington state from May 17 to 27.

Soon after that, Protoje and his band InDiggNation will make their debut on the African continent as one of the headliners for the MBay Megafest on June 2 at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium. This is a special assignment for Protoje as his wish is to travel the world with InDiggNation playing and creating music. The artist is also billed for Rototom Sunsplash in Spain this coming August.

Marcia Griffiths Teams Up With Rising Reggae Artist Kwabena Nip

Following on from Kwabena's Bloody River single, The Queen Of Reggae, Marcia Griffiths, has teamed up with the rising reggae artiste to record this new single, Governs Of Africans, after a friend had played her a couple of tracks from his album Ancestral Vessel, which she really liked and she replied "He's really good!"

So Kwabena flew out to Jamaica on one of his missions and had the privilege of recording Governs Of Africans with Marcia, and commented, “We both immediately understood the message in the lyrics and wholeheartedly supported them!”

“I found Marcia very easy going, warm, and humble to work with., and a kind of love and helpfulness came from her being, not to mention her professionalism which is without equal. It was a great boost to my spirit to work with such a legendary icon, and to finally sing with The Queen Of Reggae.

As for Marcia, she brought a calm flavour to the song, adding her own unique, smooth vocal style, which is instantly recognisable and also makes Governs Of Africans even more radio friendly and easy to listen to. “Working with her was like gold, but to top it with a diamond, I would love to record an album with Marcia, if she ever gets some time.”

Kwabena concludes “In Jamaica, we must always remember that these legendary artistes are a gift from The Most High to us all, and they still continue to spread the conscious message of True Reggae Music round the globe “

Raine Seville, Artiste And Advocate

Raine Seville has been working on all levels of her career, as a singer and activist, once again showcasing her versatile personality and talents. Since the start of the year Raine has been making waves on the airwaves with two new collaborations, one of which is her biggest collaboration to date with star Mavado.

The two collaborated for Cheating Games on Pay day Music’s Real Reggae rhythm, which has gained more than 200,000 views on youtube. The song is like a conversation between the two as they discuss the cheating situation in their musical relationship.

Another collaboration to look out for that is steady gaining speed is Watch Me Wine Now with Voicemail for producer Washroom Entertainment. According to Seville the song is getting a lot of airplay and will be featured on Voicemail’s upcoming mix tape. Outside of that the singer is working with famed local producer Don Corleon and newcomer Blackspyda.

The singer’s hard work is beginning to pay off with a performance at the South Florida Reggae Awards in Florida in June. She has also been nominated for three awards at the upcoming Music Achievers Awards, for ‘Best Music Video’ for her Showdown video, ‘Best Dressed Female’ and ‘Most Promising Female’.

Outside of music, Raine Seville is always willing to play her part in assisting various charities and organizations. The singer’s latest advocacy role is as an Ambassador for Help Ja Children, the advocacy group organized a march and rally in Kingston on Tuesday, May 1. Help JA Children was founded after an article was published in the media, giving Jamaicans a chilling reminder of the dire circumstances that many Jamaican children face.

The article revealed that children as young as four have been treated in heinous cases of sexual abuse. As a mother, Seville was quick to hear the cry for assistance and was a visionary behind the group’s theme song Play Your Part. Raine commented, “Play Your Part features 11 artistes and is produced by Payday Music, with co-production by Nigel Staff.

I came up with the concept of getting the artistes together on one track to sing about issues we face in our society and the need to play our part and work together. With the help of Craig Jackson from Voicemail and Chevaughn the chorus was composed and recorded then we approached the other artistes who saw the vision and agreed to be a part of it.

After hearing about the Help Ja Children campaign/march I approached Brandon Allwood with the song telling him I believe it is fitting for the movement he listened to it loved it and made it the theme song of the Help Ja Children movement. “ A video for the song will be released in May and Raine will be co-directing the video.

Gramps Morgan to Autograph Reggae Music Lives for Fans

Celebrated and award winning recording artist, as well as Soul Train Award nominee, Gramps Morgan, prepares to sign his autograph on his album Reggae Music Lives, for his fans in New York and Florida.

The Dada Son Entertainment recording artist will be in New York on Saturday May 19th for an exclusive in store album signing at the VP Records Retail store in Jamaica, Queen’s.

The album, which was released on Tuesday April 24th, 2012, has received critical acclaim from the Reggae Fraternity and fans as far away as Gambia, Africa, to as close as Atlanta, Georgia. Due to the impact of the lead single “Life Too Short,” Gramps felt it was necessary to connect with fans on a more personal level, hence spending a day with them in stores.

“I have always had a close relationship with my fans, which is why I’m eager to hit the road to meet them, talk to them and sign their copies of Reggae Music Lives. Seeing them at the record stores means a lot – it’s one of the best parts of my job!”

Gramps heads to the VP Records Retail store in Miramar, Florida on Friday June 1st for more one on one interaction with fans. Encouraging fans to purchase the incredible album, critics have said “this album takes listeners on a deeper journey of getting to know Gramps, and at the same time, receiving good wholesome music they can find joy in day to day!”

Reggae Music Lives is an evolution of Gramps' professional and musical growth expressed through his singing, narratives, arrangements and compositions. His melodies and hooks are seasoned with mature, worldly lyrics that are delivered flawlessly. All of his experiences have culminated in the creation of a universal sound that he says stems from exposure.

Angelic harmonies, authentic compositions and a unique sound brand, Gramps calls "Rockaz," Reggae Music Lives is more than Reggae, it's world-beat, with a little bit of country, a taste of what Americans call rap-Jamaicans call it toasting; mix it with a hint of r 'n' b, a dash of blues synthesized with contemporary reggae that maintains the integrity of the original art form and you get a sense of the musical accents that help to make Reggae Music Lives complete.

Reggae Music Lives is about the preservation of art, music and culture and Gramps wants the world to know that "Reggae music is here to stay."
