Silkkey D - "(When It?) A Go Betta"

“Silkkey D” (Gary B. G. Thompson) is a Jamaican recording artiste whose smooth voice and fluid vocal delivery earn him his stage name. His singles “When It A Go Betta” and “Prettiest Girl” bear his signature heartfelt tone that drapes each line in unbroken emotion.

But who is the man behind the voice? And what’s in store for this upcoming talent?
Born to humble beginnings in Linstead, Jamaica, Silkkey D started his musical journey at an early age. In fact it was his parents’ love of reggae music that got him listening to such musical greats as Delroy Wilson, The Heptones, Alton Ellis, Dennis Brown and Bob Marley.

With these legends as his inspiration, Silkkey D found his creative outlets in drama and acting throughout primary and high school. His appearances at Charlemont High concerts got him noticed by peers and teachers alike, who all encouraged him to pursue his passion of performing.

By 1989 Silkkey D was being featured on local stage shows. After 7 years of solid performance experience, he recorded his first single at Black Scorpio Recording Studio in Kingston, Jamaica. Silkkey D’s follow up single “Wine” produced by Escaliba Records got him noticed by a growing Jamaican fan base. Silkkey D was living his dream.

His insatiable drive to become a well rounded artiste had lead Silkkey D to learn from every professional he worked with, including Mikey “Bumpa” Melody, singer & owner of True Friends’ Studio. At True Friend’s he learnt the art of recording, mixing and producing, skills which he has used to enrich his own musical craft.

Silkkey D is currently signed with the Black Tiger Music Label. His latest single “(When?) It A Go Betta,” is a haunting lament about the anguish of the poor across the world. He also shows his versatility with “Prettiest Girl” featuring DJ Jigsy King, as he efficiently delivers the same compelling energy and lyrical clarity in this Dancehall tune.

Silkkey D is determined to become a force to be reckoned with in the music business. His dream is to continue carrying his musical message throughout the world.

Lyricson's Third Album 'Messages' Out November 8th

Lyricson tours, increasing the number of concerts in South America to West Africa, sharing the stage with Sean Paul, Alpha Blondy, Morgan Heritage, Capleton, Tiken Jah Fakoly etc ... When not on stage he spends his time in recording sessions, without leaving any respite, there is much in demand, moreover, we could find on the 2009 tour of the rap group's debut: Assassin.

Height of all his experiences, Lyricson fate in 2010 releases third album 'Messages'.

Throughout this third album, Lyricson deliver us from all evil with his "messages" lucid but optimistic. This "messenger" of the 21st century comes to unite for nearly ten years audiences of all ages and all walks who recognizes him as such transcended by the emotion he arouses in her stage performances.

So with this album he chose to continue to address issues dear to his heart reflects the current social reality as on "Start Revolution" featuring the rising star of the Jamaican Reggae Zamunda or "Life is not a game" or " Bless The Youth "evoking the increasing number of children left behind in a society that loses its bearings. But this album also contains hymns to the genuine love, respect and tolerance with titles such as "Glad You're Mine", "Upright" or "Provider & Guide."

Lyricson has indeed managed to find harmony with teams of composers and mixers as well as French Jamaicans who have succeeded brilliantly to showcase his talent for writing and performing.

It should also be noted that veterans of Jamaican reggae icons. Such as "Fire House Crew" (Jah Mason, Junior Kelly ...) or Steven Stanley (Sean Paul, Tarrus Riley ...) worked on this project as well as Francophone as pillars of Reggae Bost & Bim, TNT or from the scene Caribbean Ghost Foxx T.

We sail and a Reggae classic and intense as on "From The Beginning" made by Fire House Crew to startling sounds more like the title "Blessings Multiply," which sounds more urban Foxx T composed and mixed by Mark of Animalsons (Booba ...).

But the substance and form of the "Messages" Lyricson continue to surprise us so when he comes back into the sixties with his talents crooner on "Crush on You" we understand why he also claims worthy Bob Marley as heir to Otis Redding Osama Cooke which he often performs on stage titles. In short with this third album that we better understand the title "Messages" by listening, Lyricson confirms that it is one of the top prospects from the scene Reggae Hex.

Messenger attention on a crusade .... not to be missed ... ..

A distinctive voice, unique in character and humble, as are the words to describe the artist Maikal X. These same characteristics that allowed him to join the group Hip Hop / Reggae as seller in the Netherlands "Postmen".

With the release of his debut album "Genesis" Maikal X offers a product with unconventional qualities in the company of such icons of Reggae Peetah Morgan (Morgan Heritage), Luciano, Dean Fraser, or the Diva Irie Love. He will be touring all summer 2010 before the official release of his album in France October 11, 2010. Maikal X was born Michael Parkinson, which reflects the X and Maikal all why he is known.

Although he has lived all his life in Holland, having a mother and a father Caribbean Guyanese made it impossible for him to lose the sense of Caribbean music. He started as a Breaker at the age of 6 years and only later he discovered his abilities as a singer. Beginning in 1998, then known as the Rocka Rolla / Shyrock he received numerous commercial successes with the group "Postmen" as the title "Cocktail" and "You Wait", taken from their album "Documents". This title also launched a close collaboration between Maikal X and producer Don Corleon, who gave birth to the hit "Bear With Me." Don Corleon "Maikal X can do great things in the world of Reggae!
