Belair Seeks His Big Break in the Music Biz‏

With an undying love for music and two newly released singles, reggae artiste Belair believes it’s now time for him to make the transition from an ‘upcoming act’ to a major force in the music industry.

The singer, born Martin Beckford, acknowledged that faith without works are futile and is now steadfast in his quest to carve out a musical legacy that will be around long after he’s gone.

“Now is the right time for me to explode into the music biz and I am working very hard to achieve this goal,” said Belair.

He recalled that his affection for music began when he was a small child growing up in the cool parish of Manchester. In those days he was inspired by the lyrics of deceased reggae artiste Early B (who is famous for the single One Wheel Wheelie).

“To tell the truth my love for music began at the age of 10 while listening to Early B and several other music greats, this led to my decision to pursue a career in 1995,” he said.

Though he has been recording and performing for many years now, Belair is yet to get that elusive ‘big break’ in music, but he refuses to give up hope as he has found renewed confidence with the release of his two latest singles Nah Live Til Dem Grey and Need Yuh, on the’ Hol’ Yuh rhythm’, which features Gyptian hit single Hold Yuh.

“Yes man’ I am very confident in what am doing now, my song (Nah Live Til Dem Grey) is currently in the top 10 on Captain Kirk’s reggae chart in Miami on WAVZ 101. It won’t be long before I get my break in the business. I have been receiving a lot of calls lately for stage shows and I am already booked for GT Taylor’s Christmas Extravaganza,” he said.

Like with most upcoming artistes in the business, Belair has faced his fair share of hardships. Outside of music, Belair’s passion also lies in carpentry, but he’d rather make a career out of music.

The former Mile Gully Secondary student also believes his singles, mentioned above, will motivate and entertain listeners.

“I love dancehall and reggae music alike. I try to bring a difference with my music, my songs will inspire and entertain at the same time,” he said.
