Midnight Joins Forces With VP Records

(VP RECORDS, NEW YORK) - The new album from veteran reggae act Midnite titled Treasure is set to hit stores on January 25, 2011. Armed with a firm foundation in Jah Rastafari and a strong, uncompromising musical vision, Midnite champions a sound that is on the cutting edge of modern roots music.

The newly recorded studio album features the outstanding talents of brothers Vaughn Benjamin (lead vocal) and Ron Benjamin (bass & production), who have guided the sound and recording career of this distinctive unit since 1997. Midnite's live performances, which often exceed three hours, have won them a legion of fans among the reggae community worldwide.

With Treasure, Midnite has teamed up for the first time with VP Records' global distribution network. The pairing will profile the group's music on a new level as it is the first major release through the newly formed VP Associated Labels Group (VPAL). This arrangement includes digital and physical distribution for the group as well as marketing services through VP's label services (publicity, new media, bookings).

"We're excited to be in the VP family after all this time," states Vaughn Benjamin. "This venture with Midnite brings a new audience as they are heavily entrenched in the West Coast reggae scene," notes VPAL's Director, Donovan Williams. "We are excited about the potential of working more closely with Midnite and other groups with a strong touring presence and great sales history."

Bushman: A Tribute to Peter Tosh

BUSHMAN SINGS THE BUSH DOCTOR

(VP RECORDS, NEW YORK) - Reggae artist Bushman is back in a big way with a new studio album and a title to match - Bushman Sings The Bush Doctor - A Tribute to Peter Tosh. Compiled in honor of reggae legend Peter Tosh, Dwight Duncan aka Bushman covers some of Tosh's greatest hits as he pays justice and tribute to the icon.

Bushman Sings The Bush Doctor is a12-track collection (15-track digital version) of classic Tosh songs, recorded with reverence and grants homage to the original classics.

The album was produced in collaboration with Penthouse Productions and sees guests vocalists Buju Banton and Tarrus Riley, and musicians Robbie Lyn, Sly Dunbar, Kirk Bennett and others join Bushman on this tribute, which both honors and continues Tosh's legacy.

The lead track "Legalize It" was featured on the recent Greensleeves compilation Hi Grade Ganja Anthems 3. Other standouts include "Don't Look Back" featuring Tarrus Riley, "Mawga Dog," "Brand New Second Hand," and "Mama Africa" featuring Buju Banton.

The baritone voice of Bushman has a notable resemblance to Tosh's tone and is thus perfectly paired on this tribute to the iconic entertainer. With his own vibrant, soulful sounds, this new take on Tosh's classics is a treat for connoisseurs and new fans alike.
