Richie Spice AKA Richel Bonner Sued In The USA‏

Cliff Side Entertainment and its management are suing Richie Spice AKA Richel Bonner for not performing at a Concert in Hartford Connecticut for which he was booked. Cliff Side Entertainment paid 50 percent deposit plus air fare and hotel accommodations for Richie Spice and three of his entourage to perform at a concert in Connecticut on July 2, 2011.

Richie Spice was scheduled to arrive in the USA on June 30th 2011 however; he changed the ticket date and arrived one week earlier. After finding that the ticket had been changed, the management team at Cliff Side Entertainment was told that Richie Spice wanted to arrive a week early because of a Promotion they were doing with VP Record, to promote his new album and they did not want to miss the opportunity. The management for Richie Spice stated that they would just do an album release which they scheduled for June 27th 2011 at SOBs in New York to which VP Records compensated.

However, Cliff Side Entertainment Management later found out that Richie Spice took other concerts for which he was paid a performance fee before performing for the show which he was booked for initially. Furthermore, Richie Spice was schedule to arrive for promoting the show on June 30, 2011 but instead he showed up on July 2, 2011 and instead of hit the ground running with all the activities that was planned for that day by Cliff Side Entertainment management, he checked himself in the hotel which was reserved for him by Cliff Side Entertainment and went to sleep, his mangers exact words “If Richie don’t get some sleep I Sheron Rose would not like the outcome”.

Cliff Side Entertainment Management, Sheron Rose later confronted Richie’s manger about doing other show at the company’s expense and requested a refund for the airline tickets and offer only to pay the difference of the air line tickets plus the per diem to cover the balance of his 50 percent. They refused, stayed in hotel and Richie Spiced never performed for his fans.

In light of this, Cliff Side Entertainment would like to apologize to all the disappointed fans that came out to see Richie Spice and almost lost their lives because of the violence that broke out. Cliff Side Entertainment would also like to apologize to all the workers at the venue that was fearful for their lives because of this selfish man “Richie Spice”.

Cliff Side Entertainment is asking all promoters to come forward who booked a show with Richie Spice between June 25 and July 3, 2011. Cliff Side Entertainment will submit to the court a full outline and more in dept detail of what transpired up to July 2, 2011 with Richie Spice Management team and will pursue a law suit to recover all expenses loss not limited to pain and suffering caused.

The team at Cliff Side Entertainment is also asking for his visa to be revoked and to be banned from doing any more shows in the USA. If you were at the show and would like to comment, please submit in writing to cliffsideentertainment@gmail.com.

Bonafide Band Collaborates With Junior Gong, Vybz Kartel, Etana And Busy Signal

Reggae music has never been short of bands that are equally at home backing acts on stage or making hit songs of their own. The Bonafide band, reared in Montego Bay and based in Las Vegas, is the latest on that list. The quintet is currently in Jamaica putting the finishing touches on their debut album which will feature several collaborations with big names like Damian ‘Junior Gong’ Marley, Vybz Kartel, Etana and Busy Signal.

Drummer and vocalist Donovan ‘Junior Rootz’ Stevens said the band went for a diverse batch of acts to record with to not only show their versatility, but their respect for all facets of Jamaican music. “When this album is released people going to hear dancehall, lovers rock, roots. We want to bring back everything, especially live music to the people,” Stevens said.

The Bonafide band also includes his brothers, keyboardist Robert Stevens and bass player Wayne Stevens. Deejay Kerry Bell and drummer Kirk Bennett round out the regular lineup. It has its roots in the revivalist church the Stevens siblings attended in Mount Salem, St. James. As the siblings approached adulthood, they embraced secular music and were encouraged by their uncle to move to Rochester, New York where they played at his club, Bed Rock.

Through their stint at Bed Rock, they earned gigs in the Japanese city of Roppongi
where they ran into one of reggae’s greatest harmony groups, the Wailing Souls. So impressed were the ‘Souls’ with the band, that they invited them to be their backing band for their 1999 United States tour.

They stayed with the ‘Souls’ for that one jaunt but bigger assignments came along. The most noted of these has been recording with artistes from the Pacific rim, especially Hawaii, home to a massive reggae community. The Bonafide band has worked with two of that island’s most famous reggae performers: Fiji and J Boog.

In August, the band is scheduled to start a tour of Australia, Fiji, New Zealand and Tahiti. While Bonafide’s members are keen on touring, Junior Smooth says the debut album is their most exciting project to date. “It’s the right time to do it because we really want to bring back the whole live concept,” he said.
