Gott Yo Positive About Single Produced By Seanizzle

After leaving Tivoli Gardens High School in 2004 it was pretty clear to Gabriell “Gott Yo” Russell that music would have been his only destination.

The self-motivated singer, who likes to be referred to as a “universal artiste”, recorded his first song I Wish, for internationally renowned music producer Phillip ‘Fattis’ Burrell in 2000, soon after he began voicing for numerous producers who were impressed by his talent.

Gott Yo, born on September 24, 1985, spoke confidently about his future prospects in the music business even though he has achieved limited success over the past five years. “I see myself as a universal artiste. Whatever the producer request I can bring that to the table. It’s (being in music) a task and you have to face it and study the business,” he said.

Inspired by his brother Lukie D and other reggae artistes such as Gyptian, Luciano, Daddy U Roy and Natty King , Gott Yo admitted that he sees himself being rated amongst the best in the business in the not too distant future. He believes his latest single I Need A Change, produced by Seanizzle, will give him the public attention he craves.

“My career is on the verge of reaching another level, which is the real breakthrough,” said the singjay, whose singles Real Love and Nobody Cares has earned him reasonable airplay both locally and internationally.

Though he is yet to perform on a major event, Gott Yo believes he has the mental and physical ability to entertain any audience, which is, according to him, is due to his unending love for music.

“Music means a lot to me. I was born in music and every family member I have is, or was, involved in music,” he said.

Other singles Gott Yo have recorded are Guidance, which was produced by Frenz 4real record label and Chauffer, which was produced by Open Air Productions.
