It is very evident that with the loss of rock steady and reggae giants such as Alton Ellis, Sugar Minott and Gregory Isaacs in recent times, there is a growing void in the locally music industry where singers are concerned.
Therefore the question is being asked in several quarters of the music industry, as to who will step in to take up the mantle when all the great singers have departed.
However all is not last as there are quite a few good singers on the rise locally, who have shown that they have the pedigree to carry on the great singing tradition that the reggae genre has become famous for world wide.
One such artiste is Stevie Face, who continues to shine on his path to stardom. Over the last two and a half years, he has steadily rebuilt his career, which was put on hold a few years earlier by a car accident. While doing so he has amassed a very exciting repertoire of hits, which includes a mixture of cover and original songs such as Coming Home Tonight, Tell It Like It Is, In The Living years and his latest chart topper Thank You For Loving Me.
The smooth voiced singer’s music has impressed not only music lovers at home, but also abroad in England where he is currently ranked as one of the top reggae singers. His popularity is also growing in other foreign territories including Canada, the USA and Europe.
His performances two weekends ago at Richie Steven’s album launch and HITZ 92 FM’s big road ‘Party Function Inna Junction’, are still being talked about by patrons who witnessed his awesome stage presence and powerful delivery of his songs at both events. Both performances were short but spicey and left the patrons, especially the ladies begging for more.
Before the end of the year Stevie will be doing several over seas shows in countries including France, Canada, England and Holland.
Stevie Face is currently working on his third album under the guidance of his manager Paul ‘Computer Paul’ Henton and is looking to take his career to new heights in the not too distant future with the release of the album which is slated to be released in the first quarter of 2011.
The video for his latest hit, Thank You For Loving Me is presently holding down the number 1 spot on CVM TV’s HIT LIST Reggae Count Down.
Stevie Face is also enjoying strong rotation with his combination single with Florida based songstress Fiona, titled Baby Come To Me. The track is a remake of 1983 R&B hit which was originally done by Patti Austin and James Ingram, is also featured on the R&B Hits Reggae Style Compilation which is distributed by VP Records.
