Tony Anthony About Juno And EME Nominations‏

Still celebrating his recent nomination in the 2011 JUNO awards in Canada, Tony Anthony has picked up a second nomination. He is now also in contention for a prestigious EME Award in Jamaica, further underscoring a musically great 2010 for him.

The artist is nominated in the “Breakthrough Artist of The Year” category which is expressly awarded to artists whose work have attracted local and international attention, and who is seen as poised to lead the next generation of Reggae/Dancehall stars.

Anthony will be going up against I-Octane, Khago, G Whizz, Jolly Boyz, D’ Major, Shawn Storm and Tiana. The EME Awards will take place on Saturday, March 12, 2011, starting at 8:00pm. It will be held at the East Lawn of the historical Devon House, Hope Road, Kingston.

Tony Anthony is one of the first Canadian Reggae artistes in years to quickly carve his name on the international scene in countries such as Gambia, Kenya, France, Italy, Germany, The Virgin Islands, UK, Jamaica and USA (especially Florida, New York and Atlanta).

His debut album, Million Chance, was released in April 2010. It went to number one on the Richie B top ten album charts in Jamaica, and also topped the Canadian Reggae countdown for several weeks.

Million Chance peaked at number 5 on the top 50 recommended reggae album chart in Europe and it is currently riding the New York and South Florida Top 20 album charts. Most recently, it debuted in Italy on Dj Gusmati's Jamaican Top 20 Reggae Album Chart.

'Torn,' the first single released from the album, gave Tony Anthony his first number one hit in Jamaica, the Caribbean, and Canada. 'Bad News,' the second single, has already reached number one status in Canada, number 11 on the Richie B JMC top 25 reggae music chart in Jamaica, number 19 on the New York top 30 reggae singles chart and holds the number 15 position on the Caribbean top 30 music charts in the Virgin Islands.

Million Chance is available for download on Itunes, Napster, Amazon.com, mp3soundquake.com and other leading online stores.
