Timmi Burrell Edging Closer to Musical Breakthrough

Fast-rising reggae artiste Timmi Burrell believes it’s only a matter of time before he starts getting widespread public attention for his music. The multi-talented singer and producer, born Clive Burrell, feels that in a few years time his name will be mentioned amongst the very best in reggae music.

The ever-patient Burrell, who has been knocking on music’s door for the past decade, is confident that his latest singles, Dem Nuh Care, No Worries, Believe in the Father and Make Dough, are just the right ingredients to ignite the musical flames he has been yearning for.

“Its (musical breakthrough) right around the corner. If it doesn’t happen this year, next year is a must and I am doing all the hard work to achieve it,” said Burrell. The singer is currently working with renowned music producers such as Delly Ranks, Donald ‘Icon’ Medder and Omar Glazze, of Born Free Productions in Germany, and Antiguan producer Grem Star. He’s also set to release an EP titled From Spanish Town to Negril.

After numerous setbacks, the Spanish Town native, who resides in Negril, is steadily finding his place in the local music industry.
“Music has done a lot for me. Growing up all I could see myself involved in was badness, and then came music which grabbed me at the right time. Since I began to focus on the music things have been much better for me.

Timmi Burrell is hoping to add a few more big name producers to the list he has so far worked with. He said that, if given the chance, the world will give birth to another musical genius.“If I get a real chance in the business, I will take my music to the highest levels. I want people to remember me as a musical genius, that’s my goal”.

The former barber said he will not allow the limited opportunities that the music industry gives to upcoming acts to derail him, as he has firmly placed his faith in God who has blessed him with his talent.

“Looking at it (the opportunities in the local industry) objectively? I know the business is very hard! But, at the end of the day once you work hard success can be achieved, so I am very optimistic that I will make it because I am a God blessed youth and I believe in the Father,” he said.
