Dancehall artiste Garland “G-Whizz” Rowe has been seemingly quiet since dropping numerous hit singles, Life, Whether Night or Day and On & On. But according to manager John Barrett, the artiste has been busy doing tours and recording in the studio.
“Well he’s just completed the first leg of the Ministry of National Security Peace tour in Matthews Lane two weeks ago and it was successful,” stated Barrett.
The Ministry of National Security’s Citizen Security and Justice Programme (CSJP) and the Community Security Initiative (CSI) is a crime prevention drive which seeks to promote peace through the using of positive music as one of its driving forces.
The tour targets volatile communities spanning eight parishes - the Kingston Metropolitan Area including: Mountain View, Dunkirk, Tivoli Gardens, and Fletcher's Land, Trench Town as well as communities in St. James, Westmoreland, Clarendon, St. Catherine, St. Mary and St. Ann.
For G-Whizz, being on the tour was a must because of his youthful fan base. It was therefore not surprising that he wishes to continue playing a positive role in their lives. “It’s a tour where we’re trying to bring peace in the inner city and a lot of the youth listen to my music so I’m trying to do my part in helping this initiative by being a positive influence and supporting it,” he said.
He is also on the Irie FM Road Show and will be dropping new singles very soon. His new singles are Bartender on the TJ Records label, Who Jah Bless from GaJapan Records Records and From Mi Born from NotNice Records. In addition, he plans to shoot From Mi Born in a few weeks.
