Claudia Sings A Reggae Note With This Love

St Lucian singer Claudia is no stranger to music as she is very popular in her home country. Now, Claudia wants to break into the local reggae scene and she has the music to boot with This Love.

This Love was recorded in April at Big Yard Studios in Jamaica with production by Christopher Martin and Ce’Cile. This Love is being released on the Quality Time Riddim through Christopher Martin’s just launched Cheeny Big Son label.

For this new track Claudia drew on the talents Ce’Cile who is one of Jamaicans most noted entertainers and feels tremendous appreciation for being able to work with such as great artiste: “This love was written by Ce’Cile and when I heard it I loved it immediately. It’s a different sound for me so it brings out a fresh vibe that I am sure my fans will love. It was a wonderful experience working out of Big Yard”.

Claudia who is a classically trained singer, says her move into reggae is natural as her 2010 album Mic Check was in parts influenced by reggae especially on songs such as Hey Boy: “I have been singing reggae for years and it is an element in many of the songs I have recorded. This love is a song that I am very happy with as it allows me to express my vocal talent and diversity”.

The singer who is tremendously popular in her home county of St Lucia and the Eastern Caribbean has been a regular on festivals in that region having performed on the St Lucia Jazz Festival in 2002, 2009 and 2010, Grenada’s 2003 Spice Festival and has even toured Europe with Nobel Laureate Derek Walcott.

While Claudia is no stranger to the stage; her talent is also multi-faceted as she is a seasoned entertainer in both music and drama. Her work goes beyond sessions with St. Lucian musicians as she has done numerous work with internationally renowned musicians.

Now pursuing a reggae career Claudia is very passionate about her full-fledged foray into the genre: “What I like is that when you sing reggae it if feels so real. It is music that people can relate to and it doesn’t matter where they are from. I love reggae music’s and its authenticity”.

Expect more music from Claudia to be released in the coming weeks as she sings her reggae note.
