“In a beautiful mysterious way music has chosen me and while growing up whether I was at home or in the streets music was always a tool for me to express myself and it has been that way ever since. Right now I am ready for the big break in Jamaica. As matter of fact I am looking forward to a musical explosion locally. In a very short time from now people everywhere are going to know and love my music,” he confidently stated.
Growing up in New York Face was exposed to many different forms of music including Reggae, Hip Hop and R & B. But it was Hip hop that got him hooked from day one, by the time he was in high school he began rapping for his friends, he also entered several Rap contest.
“From a very early age I have been listening to artists like Bob Marley, Jacob Miller, Gregory Isaacs, Big Daddy Cane, LL Cool J and Run DMC, those are some of the artists that have influenced me as an artist. I fell in love with Hip Hop very early on in life, I began Rapping in school and after that there was no stopping for me.”
After leaving high school Face Dada decided to seriously pursue a career in music and in 2002 almost by accident he met famous New York club DJ KMT on the streets. Impressed with his skills KMT invited him to record on a project he was doing with Rock & Roll legend Chubby Checker. The result was a song called The Original Masters of the Dancehall Beat. This song was released in 2003 and was a hit in the US where is peaked at number 16 on the Billboard Hot 100 Singles Charts.
The success of the song gave him the opportunity to go on tour with Chubby Checker in 2004. Two years later he would enjoy even more success when he recorded a second collaboration with Checker titled Break Down These Walls, that went on to top the Billboard Hot Dance Singles Sales Charts.
Having experienced that level of international chart success Face said he is ready to create a strong Hip Hop movement in his homeland of Jamaica.
“Right now I am on a mission to secure a major record deal, I also intend to start a major Hip Hop movement locally, after all Rap came from Reggae music. I am serious about this, in ten years’ time my team and I should be well placed on the international scene leading the Jamaican Hip Hop community to the fore front of the music world,” said the artist.
Face Dada is currently promoting his latest single titled Ghetto, the thought provoking track was produced by Dre Day on the Can’t Sleep rhythm for BDCG Entertainment International. Since its release a few weeks ago it has been enjoying good rotation both locally and abroad.
“Right now I am concentrating on promoting my latest song called Ghetto, since I dropped it the reaction from the streets and the radio stations has been very good, we are getting some good responses from all over. My team and I are pushing this track really hard; we are getting ready to shoot a video for it soon.”
In recent weeks Face has been very busy on the promotional rounds; he has done a number of interviews both locally and internationally in support of the single on radio and television stations including ZIP FM, FAME FM, NEWS TALK FM, TVJ, HYPE TV, MDT TV and Pree Dis on FLOW 100.
