Sampaloo Welcomes The "Immigration" Album With Community Event

Montreal’s young veteran, Sampaloo, has been dominating the Canadian Dancehall scene for over a decade. In the last year Sampaloo has accomplished a lot in Jamaican pop culture representing not only Montreal but all of Canada in the reggae market. The artist has come a long way since the days of the good old house parties, popular bashment venue Tiffany’s and when regular weekly events at Blue Dog Motel was the place to be.

Sampaloo became well-known in his community by hosting and performing at community events for many of the Caribbean Associations, Church Events, Penitentiary’s, and Cote-Des-Neiges’ Centre Jeunesse Emplois BBQ’s. In late 2011 Sampaloo joined forces with current manager Reeva Ann Proctor, prominent Canadian based dancehall and reggae entertainment publicist.

In early 2012 Proctor brokered a recording contract with upcoming label Kimichi Records resulting in the recording of two of his most rotated songs throughout Jamaica, Canada, United States, and England. His collaboration with Bounty Killers “Alliance Next Generation” artist, Patexx received great feedback from Jamaican Radio Disk Jocks, creating a great buzz for the Montreal entertainer.

Last summer the artist released his music video for single “Roll Out”, recorded on the popular Jamaican Riddim “Paparazzi”. He captured the history of the “Uptown” community showcasing the Barclay murals that no longer stand today. 

The video caught the attention of the media worldwide with placement on popular Jamaican media sites and hit almost 3500 views in 2 months. The artist expects to drop 3-4 more music videos this year, two of which are expected to hit just in time for summer. The team’s most anticipated being for his unreleased one-drop single “Journey” off of Morgan Heritages label, Tenement Yard Records spearheaded by Drezion. 

With growing popularity the artist and his team decided that it was time to release an album for his fans showcasing the best of Sampaloo since 2004. The album starts with his 2004 Canadian Reggae Music Award nominated single “Immigration” which is also the title Sampaloo chose for his Debut album. Sampaloo states that the single was the beginning of his journey to becoming a Montreal recording artist and the album is designed to showcase just that, “The Sampaloo Story – From Jamaica to Canada”. 

The album is a mix and blend of Sampaloo’s versatility featuring classic dancehall tracks, one drop riddims as well as even a bit of techno. The album will release shortly after the launch party due to I tunes approval. Sampaloo invites Montreal to come out to “The Return of Welcome to Montreal, the Album Launch Edition” Saturday, March 30th, 10pm Sharp at Montreal’s Jamaica Association. 

Hosted by Vibe Time, Douglas Barkley, K-Dogg, Garry T and Singing P the line-up will also include some of Montreal’s greatest veteran and young artists both in the Hip-Hop and Reggae Scene as well as special out of town guests coming from Quebec City, Ottawa and Toronto. You can also catch Little Thunder Sound, James Bond, Skyhawk Int’l, Nemesis Sound and Johnny Blacks among other sounds on the 1’s and 2’s that evening.
