Studio B Crop Over Hits Debuts at #1

Barbados-based hit production house Studio B blazes with its new compilation that celebrates the annual Crop Over season in Barbados, aptly titled Studio B Presents Crop Over Hits 2014 – Various Artists, available worldwide from all major digital retailers today, August 12, 2014, from FOX FUSE.

Making a splash globally for their massive hit “Red Light District” from soca star Bunji Garlin during the 2014 Trinidad Carnival season, producers Darien Bailey and Kevin “Daddy Bubbles” Marshall of Studio B now shine the spotlight on local entertainers in their homeland, as Barbados recently observed its annual carnival known as Crop Over.

Studio B Presents Crop Over Hits 2014 – Various Artists debuted at #1 on iTunes Barbados Top Albums chart and at #71 on the iTunes U.S. Reggae Top Albums chart, on its day of release. It also nabbed a prized feature on the iTunes U.S. Reggae New & Noteworthy chart and on the iTunes Canada Recent Reggae Releases chart during its week of release.

“This is an amazing feeling and another good day for soca music, especially for Barbados,” states Marshall, speaking on behalf of Studio B. “To see it quantified in this way excites Studio B, not only as producers but as music fans, to see how far we have come and how far we can go. Thanks to all who have supported soca music and Studio B, Barbados.”

Crop Over takes place in July and culminates in early August, and Studio B Presents Crop Over Hits 2014 captures the essence of the festival for soca lovers everywhere. Boasting 6 sizzling tunes, the album showcases soca sensations such as Fadda Fox, Wildchild, Kirk Brown, BoBo, Yannick Hooper, Holla Bak and OB, and delivers tropical, groovy soca sounds that will have you celebrating no matter where you are and no matter the time of year.

The tracks are already burning up the charts and airwaves in Barbados, where they have been in steady rotation on local radio stations such as hit station SLAM 101.1 FM. These tracks join Studio B’s recent hit compilation Sour Sop Riddim (released on August 5, 2014 from FOX FUSE), which is also in heavy rotation currently on Caribbean platforms worldwide. With another hit compilation under its belt, Studio B is firing fuel into the soca music industry and keeping the genre alive for the global fan base.
