Lady Genius Remake Emeli Sande’s "Suitcase"

Multi-talented Reggae singer Lady Genius is ready to take her place in the spotlight. The Clarendon born singer is currently enjoying much attention with a cover of Scottish recording artiste Emeli Sande’s song called Suitcase.

The single which was produced and released by Move Up Records in August has been receiving heavy rotation on a number of radio stations both locally and abroad. “Suitcase is a song I love dearly, Emeli Sande is an incredible writer and great singer. I really admire her work a lot. I recorded Suitcase in 2013 when I was in the states, that version had a more R&B sound.

But in August I re-recorded it because I wanted to give a nice Reggae lovers rock vibe. It turns that I made the right choice, so far the response to this version of the song has been great,” said the artiste.

Lady Genius recently released a supporting music video for Suitcase which features cameo appearances from former Shocking Vibes member Silver Cat and upcoming actress Kat Eye. The video was filmed under the direction of Mark Edwards of Never Mind Productions at various locations in Clarendon including Twin Palm Estates. “We’ve just released the video, it’s a really nice video, and I think it’s going to help to push the song further.”

Prior to releasing suitcase Lady Genius released a handful of singles including a cover of Rihanna’s Stay and a cover of Toni Braxton & Baby Face’s Hurt You which was done in tandem with veteran Reggae singer Anthony Malvo.

The multitalented singer who is also a professional model and radio host is getting ready to release another single before the end of the month. “Before the end of the month I’m going to release a follow up single to Suitcase. It’s a nice Dancehall flavored track called Nah Stop Try. I recorded this song for a label called Push Hitz Record in New York,” said Lady Genius.
