Shaggy (@DiRealShaggy) Celebrates his Birthday While Making History

On Monday October 20th the Marley JamRock Cruise set sail with a sold out cruise ship of over 2300 passengers as they sailed towards the birthplace of the legendary Robert Nesta Marley and Reggae music. With stellar performances on Day one by Black-Am-I, Julian Marley, Damian Junior Gong Marley and Stephen Marley, the ship was all set for the 5 day excursion.

On Tuesday Oct. 21st the crowd of over 1500 assembled on the deck of the Norweigian Pearl to see the performance of Wailing Souls,Tarrus Riley and Shaggy. It was evident the crowd was ready to party and have an 'Irie' time.

As the crowd cheered for Tarrus Riley stellar performance, the lights began to dim as there was a brief band change. You saw the crowd scurry to the bars for their drinks and run to the lobby to gather their friends and let them know "Mr. Boombastic is about to hit the stage".

At 12:05 am, the lights began to flicker, green, yellow, blue and the crowd began to scream and cheer. From side stage you heard Grammy award winning artist, philanthropist and icon Shaggy in his signature deep gritty voice say "Dem a Go tyad fi see we face". Shaggy appeared on stage dressed in light blue jeans, white button up shirt and navy blue blazer as he walked across the stage and began to reel off hits like 'Bonafide', 'Mr. Love Lover' and 'Oh Carolina'.

As usual his band did not miss a beat and the production was flawless. The diverse crowd and wide demographic audience began to jump, scream and wave in unison as Shaggy continued to perform hits after hits. Joining Shaggy on stage was Ranch Entertainments own and friend of Shaggy, Rayvon, who accompanied Shaggy in the performance of 'Angel'. The skies were clear, the temperature was just right and Shaggy was ready to turn it up a notch as he featured singles from his album 'Out of Many One Music'.

It was now 1:19am and the JamRock Reggae Cruise, which was headed towards the island of Jamaica was getting hot. Yet, before Shaggy wrapped up his performance, there was a special surprise in store for him. Shaggy was greeted on stage with a birthday cake by Diva Nikki Z of WZMX Hot937 and the crowd of 1500 plus sang Happy Birthday. If you thought it couldn't get any better Shaggy would introduce Damian 'Jr. Gong' Marley to hit the stage as they performed their single "Crazy" for the first time ever.

Leaving the stage and the crowd in a frenzy Shaggy was called back onto the stage for an encore performance, where he gave the crowd a melody of his dancehall hits. As Shaggy gets ready for his four weeks United States East Coast tour, he will also take time out to speak with press and media on Monday November 3, 2014.
