Aidonia Shows Maturity At Reggae Sumfest

Hard hitting dancehall deejay Aidonia known for songs such as ‘Wi Sick’ and ‘Evil Head’ last Thursday showed fans a much softer side during his performance at the 2010 staging of Reggae Sumfest in Catherine Hall, Montego Bay.

After an impressive introduction by radio and television personality Miss Kitty, the non-smile deejay took the stage decked in a black, grey and silver suit with the explosive number ‘Bad People’ and the fans gave their approval as hoards of hands and fire torches kissed the night sky.

Follow the hardcore segment; Aidonia then turned his attention to the ladies stating “Ok mi tired of the daggering now, time fi get romantic. Ladies mi can sing something for oonu”. This was greeted with loud screams and shouts of approval from the female populous.

Singer Aisha Davis was then invited on stage for the sensual number ‘Heart Is Hers’ as Aidonia complimented her and the two got up close and personal to the delight of the thousands.

Minutes later he called for a return to the Jamaica of the 60s and 70s before delving into the more conscious segment with the numbers ‘Evil Head’ and eventually closing his twenty minutes set with the very inspirational ‘Jehovah’.

When asked, the general consensus from patrons was despite his three years hiatus from the festival his performance showed evidence of growth and maturity.
