A myriad of entertainers will be at Jamaica Eco-Fest, but not in the way many may expect. Legendary singer, Judy Mowatt, is also an arts and crafts aficionado will be displaying her craft items at the environmental festival scheduled to take place this Sunday, July 17 at the Gray's Inn Sports Club, St. Mary, 10am - 6pm.
Talk-show host/artiste/designer, Mutabaruka will also have his craft items, natural products and garments on display and for sale. In addition, singer Della Manley will give a riveting performance for patrons in the afternoon.
Organizers of the event, singjay, Tanya Stephens and Andre Gordon, say those in attendance can expect to see a number of popular personalities participating in different roles. "It promises to be an exciting event, not only because of what persons will be able to learn about the environment, but also because they will be able to see first hand how even entertainers find different ways to take care of the environment," says Stephens, the marketing coordinator of the event.
The event, which was conceptualized by the business partners last year, will celebrate and promote ecological balance and introduce patrons to eco-friendly products and techniques they can utilize daily. Not only will companies be showcasing environmentally friendly products, and alternative energy sources, which can reduce your expenditure at home, but "there will be activities promoting eco-wellness to uplift your mind, body and spirit," said Stephens.
No health package is complete without a tasty array of natural food items. Patrons will be able to sample and buy dishes from some of the island's top chefs who will be demonstrating the latest techniques in the natural food industry; and those who aren't shy, will even be able to participate in the cooking process.
Still that’s not all. One lucky couple will win an enviable gate-prize to spend a weekend at the Rockhouse hotel, one of Negril’s most pristine and exotic locations. The hotel which is known for their promotion of eco-tourism was last year nominated for three World Travel Awards and is also a certified Green Globe hotel.
