Chino Labelled Artiste To Watch
KINGSTON, JAMAICA - Dancehall artiste Chino has continued to pave the way for his March 2011 US album. Over the weeks, the artiste has not only been busy performing in Canada and a number of US states, but he has also been busy accruing a number of interviews across the region.
Among the profile pieces already done on the singer are from the media houses: The Trinidad Guardian and The Barbados Advocate's youth publication, HELLO! Magazine, which was quoted as saying, "Chino’s latest album is a testament to the hard work the artist has put into his craft, the importance of Dancehall music across the globe and most importantly, the incredible contribution we can expect here in the western world."
The album which the media house makes reference to is, Chino's sophomore album, From Mawning which was released in July, solely for the Japan territory. The album debuted at the number 7 position and later that day went to the number two spot on the Japan Reggae iTunes charts where it comfortably settled for some time.
Chino whose correct name is Daniel McGregor says, "My US album will be for the US, Europe and Caribbean territories. It was important for me to do the Japan album separately because Japan is the second-largest music-buying market in the world, immediately after the USA. So I wanted them to have their own album with songs they could identify with, like the Japanese remake of From Mawning and other tracks. For the US album, a lot of work and effort has been going into it. I want to make Jamaica and my fans proud when the album comes out."
Tonight (Friday), Chino's Antiguan fans can tune into the artiste live on the island's "Entertainment Buzz" program aired on Antigua Observer Radio.
