Peter Ram lights up World Creole Music Festival

Creole music lovers and repeat attendees of the World Creole Music Festival (WCMF) fully supported Dominica’s decision to stage the fourteenth edition which ran from October 29th to 31st October 2010. Despite initial doubts about the staging of the event in the midst of the current economic climate, plans for the only indigenous music event in Dominica and the Eastern Caribbean forged ahead with tremendous success.

The popularity of the festival is evidenced through the rapid growth in the number of patrons attracted each year since its inception in 1997. This year was no different with throngs of visitors arriving on the island for Lime’s Creole in the Park four-day daytime event with another star studded line up of local, regional and international superstars.

The event was headlined by local and regional musical icons and luminaries such as Riddim and Heat, Triple Kay, WCK, Natural Vibes, Freddie Nicholas and Friends, Machine Creole, Kompa Kila, Fanatik band, Tony Rebel, Midnight Grovers. Jamaica’s Queen Ifrica and Barbadian Peter Ram were also on the cards. Performing on Saturday were Victo O (Martinique), Les Aiglon (Guadeloupe), Kreyola (Haiti), Luciano (Jamaica), and the Midnight Groovers (Dominica).

On Sunday, patrons were entertained by Barbados’s leading band Krosfyah and musical offerings were also rendered by Les Etoiles Du Cadence, Nu Look (Haiti), enigmatic Jah Cure (Jamaica), and WCK (Dominica).

The curtains were drawn on the WCMF in the wee hours of Sunday morning but not before Creole stars featuring Princess Lover Joceyne Labylle, Stefan Ravor, Costuleta and MKG Band, T-Vice (Haiti), Exile One (Dominica), Steel Pulse (Jamaica) and Triple Kay International took to the stage.

Peter Ram from Barbados was the final act over the long weekend. The huge crowd which gathered at the historic Botanical Gardens expecting the high energy performance with which he has become synonymous were not disappointed. Many of the patrons could be seen singing along verbatim with the artiste as Peter Ram sang popular tracks “ Woman By My Side and Pumping.”

  1. Do you know that the world Creole Music Festival and LIME Creole in the Park are entirely two different events. And Peter Ram did not perform at the WCMF.Take a look for yourself: http://www.dominica-weekly.com/lime-creole-in-the-park-2010-day-3/
