Breezy McKenley on Musical Mission for Christ‏

Doing what he loves best, Breezy McKenley claims to be a man on a musical mission only inspired by God.This firm believer, who hails from the parish of St Ann, is working very hard to make an impact in the local gospel music industry not only through his lyrics but, by his many philanthropic gestures and his resilience in not giving up on a childhood dream.

Admitting that on his journey so far has encountered his fair share of disappointments; McKenley is steadfast in his faith and does not harbor any thoughts of giving up.“Well, it’s been very hard and discouraging at times. I’ve been hoping to get that sound which will captivate the world but it’s a matter of fasting and praying,” he said.

The singer, born Baron McKenly, has concluded that God is using him, through music, to spread the message of love and repentance to people from all walks of life.

“The change is to seek God. I want to give young gospel aspirants the hope they are seeking. I have the ability to put my lyrics together accordingly, which will always entertain and educate my listeners,” he said.

Three singles he made mention of are Mother Mary, I Found My Lord and Oh What A Price. He has also tried his hand at acting, and was featured in several films while he was living in England.

Although he is a Christian, McKenley pays great attention to the musical works of legendary Blues singer Fats Domino, who he describes as a major influence in his career and has done a 10-track album titled ‘Gospel rendition of Fats Domino’, in tribute to the American.

“I wanted to be a singer but couldn’t find a song until I found out about his (Fats Domino) songs. Now, I can sing like him one all keys,” he said of.

Breezy McKenley has also done numerous charity works in the parishes of St Ann, Trelawny and St Mary, where he serves as a committee member and regularly donates cash and kind to the Golden Age Clubs.

He said it’s the calling of God and his deep desire to help people that have led to him, starting this venture. “Some years ago a church sister (Carmen Wilson) asked me to be a part of the committee the Golden Age clubs (in the parishes mentioned above). From there and then, people started asking me to keep all sort of charity events … it’s a continued journey organized by God,” he said.
