Third World Band Live In New York City April 5Th


New York, NY (March 23, 2011): With the launch of their 23rd album Patriots, the Reggae Ambassadors - Third World Band - will premiere the album and perform live on Tuesday, April 5, 2011. The band will be joined on stage by Tessanne Chin, who is featured on the album and special guest, Donahue Jarrett.

The event, hosted by Pat McKay of Sirius XM Radio and Dahved Levy of Caribbean Fever WBLS 107.5FM, will be held at the Highline Ballroom located at 431 West 16th Street, New York, New York.

Highline Ballroom, which has hosted performances of top billing acts such as 50 Cent, Esperanza Spalding, Janelle Monae, Monica, Pink, Talib Kweli, The Roots, among others, partnered with Third World Music Group and VicRae Inc. to host the event. Victor E. Lewis remarks, "The Highline Ballroom was an excellent fit for this event. The high profile venue ties in with what we want to accomplish - a stellar event highlighting the album and our iconic band, Third World."

Patriots, which is currently available through all digital outlets, will be available in stores on April 5, 2011 through distribution with VP Records. The 13 track album, which was Executive Produced by Third World Music Group, features songs such as Front Door (featuring the late Gregory Isaacs), You Made Me So Very Happy (a cover of Alton Ellis' timeless hit featuring Marcia Griffiths), By My Side (featuring Tessanne Chin), Good Hearted People (featuring Capleton) and 96 Degrees In the Shade (a remake of the band's classic featuring Stephen and Damian Marley). The album also features, Toots Hibbert, Sly Dumbar, Robbie Shakespeare, Dean Frazier, Inner Circle, Mykal Rose, Jessica Yapp (on violin), Junior Reid, Capleton and Tarrus Riley.



Initial singles released include "Spirit Lives," a dedication to the people of Haiti and "By My Side" featuring Tessanne Chin. The video for By My Side, which was directed by Adrian Allen, features Robert Townsend's popular online series "Diary of a Single Mom" starring Monica Calhoun, Valery Ortiz, Janice Lynde, Richard Roundtree, Billy Dee Williams and Leon, was also released.



April 5th will not only be about the album, but also about Third World and their accomplishments as a group. To reward those accomplishments, the group will be honored by the UWIAA New York Chapter, JAMPACT and the United Nation's Middle Passage Commission Corp and Unchained Forever Inc. Additionally, band will perform live in studio at Sirius XM Radio in New York City on Monday April 4, 2011.
